Not this time. Bamboo, misc succulents and cacti, agave, some climbing vines, and the desert rose. Maybe some hops, if they ever arrive in the mail.

do you have a trusted source for the hops?

because...i think i'm interested. 

also, love lies bleeding (green) may have become one of my favorite plants. 

i'm waiting to see how the irish bells, and double giant violet queens come in. 

i have romaine, and fennel to get started on.

Bamboo is one that we want to get as well. Natural barrier, yo.

i bought all my hops from homebrewing.org this year, and i don't know where they source them. it could be from anywhere, but theoretically all suppliers are selling the same strains that have a line back to the same mother plant. they were supposed to ship in early april, but apparently the season got off to a late start so the rhizomes couldn't be cut on time. now it's looking like the first week of may. they only ship rhizomes because the cuttings come from female plants with known characteristics. when you use seeds, you don't know if you're getting male/female, and the strain is guaranteed to have different characteristics than both parents. if you're doing it for decorative purposes only, seeds are definitely cheaper.

i'll have to check out those other flowers you mentioned. they sound fun.

Just gotta check your states invasive list first 

 

The invasive plants are becoming real in certain states also since you're growing hops keep an eye out for spotted lantern fly

hop merchant caterpillars showed up last year (first year i grew hops). assholes. never had any problems with the spotted lanternfly, and i'm not sure they've made it this far west.

idc if the moso bamboo is on the invasive species list. where i'm planting it (if it grows) is surrounded by concrete in the center of town, so it won't be spreading anywhere.

Bamboo is what we originally wanted to do as a barrier, but now, I don't have time to wait on bamboo to get that big. 

I want to build a fence, and then maybe plant bamboo in front of the fence.

Haha, he's actually pretty lucky I saw it today of all days. 

Plus he basically just gave it to me as a congrats gift. Got confirmed for a new job today, making a bunch more $$$. 

He's also pretty damn good with picking out gifts.

i did that out of order. this was supposed to be last photo. desert rose plants are poppin'. 4 of 5 have sprouted now. check out this meaty little feller.
