They have brief skits of Chrono trigger and Skyrim in the first episode and then don't do anything funny with it. Being random isn't the same as being funny. And the second half of the show is just the first half replayed over with different voices? Is the joke of the show that it's not supposed to be funny? Never dropped a show that fast in my life. I even gave BC 4 episodes before dropping it, and that was with the super annoying subs. 1 Quote

On the other hand, I liked PPTP, but my biggest complaint was actually that it wasn't surreal enough. They should've swung for the fences and had different people do a segment every episode, rather than just the Space Cat Company. Their shorts got somewhat predictable by the end. Of course, none of this ultimately matters, considering that the show doesn't give a fuck about what you think of it. It's basically so stooped in trolling that you can pass off anything you don't like by essentially claiming that you're not supposed to. Popuko and Pipimi work in strange ways. Quote

Sketch Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 After I heard that Kim Manning likes Pop Team Epic a lot, I was pretty darn sure it was coming, and here we are. I enjoyed it, though the built-in rerun can get grating even with the minor differences to some scenes and different voice casts. That's definitely going to test the attention of the Toonami audience. It would feel appropriate on the comedy block. I kind of wish it was there but Toonami is intentionally trying something out of their action box with this one. I welcome the experiment but I don't have high hopes it's going to be a surprise hit. It will hopefully hold FLCL Progressive just fine. More importantly, DBZ Kai is leaving and we'll finally get to see if Buu Kai was more of a blessing or a curse for the rest of Toonami. 1 Quote

I don't find it to be a bad pick (Toonami need to branch out IMO), though I can definitely see the logic behind branding this under the comedy side of Adult Swim. So the dub even in English is always going to have different voice actors. The Animation originally was mean to be broadcast in web format only, not a TV series. Then the author asked the producer if it was possible to record two tracks: one with female seiyuus and one with males and broadcast the primary track and the auxiliary. This wasn't possible with web streaming. Then when they considered a TV broadcast for the series, the time of every episode wasn't enough to allocate one slot of broadcast, and unlike previous seasons, they didn't have another series to fill the slot. So instead of broadcasting one episode with dual audio as the author requested, they just paid for the entire slot and broadcast the 2 recordings, with male and female seiyuu. There are differences in both because the director and producer give full freedom to the seiyuu to do whatever they wanted (and they didn't like it), and even they modified some animated cuts according to the seiyuu used (Ep. 3 Bison reference), or the comments they did in the recording (the Tomokazu Sugita episode). But these were minimal. Quote

A nonstop drip of it will get old quickly, the same way Awesome Show did for many. (I think that’s why Tom Goes to the Mayor sucked, it didn’t play to their strengths which is rapid absurdity, not a steady stream). Quote
