The 80's were great.  I don't remember much before 1985 though but the late 80's were definitely fun.

Tv was actually worth watching, animation was great since 3D wasn't around yet, movies were still original like Ghostbusters and Back to the Future, etc.

It was nice coming home from school and watching The Real Ghostbusters and Disney Afternoon cartoons.

It's something I kind of envy about gen x; they remember a time before cell phones and the internet, but they still can use them now.

i do not envy a time before internet. i remember having to memorizing phone numbers, having a cd player for my music, having to look up information in books. having fast access to information is amazing

Don't listen to The Cranberries while driving, or The Cure while stationary, in my experience that usually fixes it.

it just sucked. :|

seriously. i specifically remember being in a computer lab senior year and the teacher was showing us how to look things up on the internet.

i was like, this sucks. no one is ever going to use this. why is it so fucking slow?

I'm watching Harmony Korine's old Epicly Later'd episode and it got me feeling hella nostalgic about the 90's...haha

my whole thing now is never looking back, but it's seems unavoidable

Guess what?

It wasn't that great.  But, one of my best grade school memories was discovering KROQ on my first (!) portable radio / tape deck and listening to WHAM! and thinking "Well, that's a hell of a lot better than folk music."

I mean I know I'm probably just being nostalgic about the small bit of 90s I can remember, but I listen to no contemporary music. Like all my favorite musicians are dead. I love my NES and I prefer real life conversation over social media (despite how much I post here). I just feel like I would have enjoyed a time where everyone wasn't so about themselves.

Good god, 80s hairstyles were awful. If I was a teen in the 80s instead of the 90s I probably would've been asexual. :|

Dude..... Bro..... Brother.... You can't be cereal.....that shit is sexy. There's nothing better than seeing a lushious mound of over styled fluffy hair bouncing up and down for three short seconds as you apologize for being so terrible at sex.

Lol.  When did such a time exist?

80s and 90s were quite nice....2000s are a blur......like 8 years of coke and 2 years coping with losing most of a decade.  the 10s are ok but there is nothing in it for me to actually be thrilled about.  This evil beast, the internet has divided people while putting them all in the same room.  People are no longer at liberty to hide their ugly sides because everyone is on display and it ain't ever pretty.  Nothing left to do but numb myself with video game emulators.

I don't remember the 80's much but I did get to see "The Sandlot" in theaters so I'll count that as a win

plus the cartoons were plentiful and skating rinks were kind of a big deal

I try to pretend like Hanson never happened but sometimes you gotta take the bad with the good

God I hated skating rinks. "Ok, let's skate in an oval in one direction over and over again. Ok, now let's skate in an oval in the other direction over and over again."

DUDE!  Skating Rinks were Twitter before Twitter.  You'd skate up to a girl in 4th grade and ask if she wanted to hold hands (slipping into the DM's as they say now) then you'd skate around to some Brandi song or Backstreet Boy song.

If they said no you just kind of got off the rink and went and played the Simpsons arcade game

I loved skating rinks when I was in elementary and middle school.  I have so many good memories of listening to Kokomo by the Beatles while skating back in 1990.

I just heard it on the radio today too.  Love that song so much.  I never listened to Hanson so I forgot about that group honestly.

I think I was in second grade when I tried skating rinks, and that was before I had an interest in girls.
