rants Haters/Complainers: Legacy of Spleen
Gina Szanboti replied to mthor's topic in General Discussion
I...don't know? I'm having trouble envisioning what that means in practice. The microwave actually worked surprisingly well, all fuck-ups considered (like it rising more than expected, and having to transfer the batter from the oven pan to the pie pan, which was a big mess). It kinda cooked like a bundt cake with a dip in the center instead of a hole. Came out really moist. It's fine. This sated my cake craving, so I won't need one for another year probably. I can always buy one if I need a fix. -

I need a new oven. Some wires somewhere are shorting out and blowing the fuse, but I'm not sure I'm up for dismantling the whole thing to find out where. I have to clean house before I can have someone install a new stove though. So...probably not going to be baking anything for the foreseeable future. I was trying to bake a cake last night, blew my last fuse 5 min in. Ended up having to microwave it in a glass pie plate. It looks like pink vomit, but it tastes fine. -
My only complaint with it so far is that there's next to no koto music in it. I'd at the very least have expected to hear it in the ED. But sadly no, it's acoustic guitar. Very odd.

It's fucking April. Why is it 90° out? I can do allergies. I can do heat. I can't do both at the same fucking time. -
It's like people have no idea how many defamation (libel) lawsuits against them that the National Enquirer has won. I think they lost to Carol Burnett, and might lose against Bezos, and that's pretty much it. Everybody else ends up losing or settling out of court. Add in the ridiculous conspiracy claims and they'll be lucky to see the inside of a courtroom beyond pre-trial motions.

Lol, his lawyer is threatening to sue the author of the io9 piece (you know, the one where he admitted to some of the accusations but claimed they were consensual) for merely giving her opinion on the lawsuit. There's also talk that he intends to sue io9/Gizmodo. Funi might've thought about settling out of court to shut him up, but if they go suit-happy at everyone who's talked about the case, I suspect no one will be willing to settle. Also Funi are fools if they do, since that will leave them wide open to pretty much anybody with a beef.

tpn The Promised Neverland Episode 1 Discussion

Probably no one will see this, but check out this beautiful shot framing, when Norman steps across the line and his world changes forever: -
Well, from the previews I saw I didn't think I was going to like Carole & Tuesday, but it looks like it's going to be pretty good after all. Too bad they didn't get Yoko Kanno on board for the music. Still, they got Takahiro Sakurai and Hiroshi Kamiya (who are both in Ace of Diamond too!), so I'm a happy camper.

Don't know how you missed it. "They are sometimes said to take their victims for the purpose of drinking their blood, eating their livers, or gaining power by taking their shirikodama (尻子玉), a mythical ball said to contain the soul, which is located inside the anus.[12][17][18]" It was also brought up in episode 9 of GeGeGe no Kitarou (2018), so no, Ikuhara didn't make it up. The good news is that if they're coming after your shirikodama, you can repel them by farting at them.
-
Although that could well be the origin of the lore, shirikodama aren't prostates, as every human supposedly has one. There's potential in this series, but I suspect I won't last more than about 5 episodes. Ikuhara's work since Utena reminds me too much of NisiOisin and Masaaki Yuasa's stuff - too dense and frenetic and exhausting to watch.

I'm ok with the animation if the story is good. But for me the biggest problem is that I really can't stand King. I hate everything about him from his story, his character design, his voice, the goopy tears always running down his ugly face... It looks like he's going to be a major character this season, so yuck. Hopefully they'll do something to help me warm up to him a little.
-
Nah, I can wait and see. It's just funny cause it looks like an oversized bridle bit.
-
Is she gonna have to wear that gag the whole series? It was pretty good. I'm in to hear more Takahiro Sakurai as Giyu, and find out what Tanjiro's scar is from.

Had a dentist appt. Tues, which required public transportation to get to. So naturally, I have a sore throat now and will probably be full on flu tomorrow. And of course I have no food in the house, except some eggs. Some flour. Can you chicken-fry eggs? -
So Sandy's kink is full body armor? For some reason the old joke about porcupines making love comes to mind... j/k

Ace of Diamond Act II, baby! OPM 2, Titan, Stray Dogs, too. The Fruits Basket reboot will probably be good. Not seeing much of interest in the new offerings yet, but descriptions are usually inadequate indicators for me. Either way, it's all good. If there's not much new to follow, I still have a huge pile of shame in a box I need to dig into.

And the moral of the story is if you're being abused or molested, just keep quiet and know your place, because even if some people believe you, nothing will ever be done, and no one will be held to account except you.

Oh man, episode 11 just wrecked me. I see a lot of my relationship with my mother in Subaru's with his, so this kinda gets me where I live, being a proverbial serpent's tooth and all.

Demarco Addresses the SAO Incident
Gina Szanboti replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Was the fuckup for all the feeds or just the west coast? Wait, I already know the answer to that. If it was just the west coast, they wouldn't even consider reairing it. Just like they didn't try to fix it for the later feeds after it blew up for the east coast. It was pretty funny when they jumped to Megalobox and then on the hour started Megalobox over again. The ads and bumps were messed up all night. -
Thanks for this. I've been looking for a way to watch Magical Index subbed instead of dubbed without having to log in on YouTube. Not sure why Funi thinks the sub should be 18+ but not the dub.

I'm following the least number of series in years, but that aside, there are some excellent ones out now. Agreed about Mob being awesome. I'm also enjoying Morose Mononokean more this season than its first one. Slime is still good. Dororo and Neverland amaze each week. Run With the Wind is racing to a great finish. And yes, My Roommate is on My Lap, But Sometimes, on My Head (aka, My Roommate is a Cat) is one of my favorites. One series I'd like to see get more love is Kemurikusa. Kemono Friends turned stupid and boring this season from kicking out the director, but while this shares a lot of things with that, Kemurikusa is my go-to apocalypse story this season. It's got all the warm, quirky good stuff that made Friends' first season so good, but is a bit darker all around. If you liked KF's first season, check it out.

I love it. I totally identify with Subaru not wanting to deal with people. I also really appreciate the dual pov on events. Like the vet visit. "Why are you just watching?! Why aren't you helping meeee?!??!!!"

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-02-20/police-report-dub-voice-actress-door-damaged-classified-criminal-mischief/.143617 I still have some questions, but this is the latest. Not that it will matter. He's also openly lawyered up now, but having his fans pay for it? That's just crass. I take back what I said earlier about him not ending up panhandling. And people think he doesn't have boundary issues?? Of course, he's kept that thin layer of deniability in place (Hey, somebody asked, and I just said ok, but it's nothing to do with me, no siree!). Especially weird since lawyers usually work on contingency for stuff like this, unless all he's asking for is "how do I stay out of jail?" advice. He basically admitted all the allegations were true, except for, "Yeah, sure I was trying to cheat on my fiancée, but golly gee, it was absolutely consensual. I'm sure of it, even though it's impossible for me to discern other people's boundaries."

I think the job she supposedly stole was at Rooster Teeth, on the production side. I dunno.
