attack on titan Attack on Titan Episode 56 Discussion
Gina Szanboti replied to 3ngag3's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Really? Y'all are more concerned about the fuck-up and have nothing to say about the content of what got cut (except ben)? Something besides the horrifically bad subs, I mean. -
Jason DeMarco Twitter Q&A 7/6/19
Gina Szanboti replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Ok, that's not what he said, but that makes much more sense. "the fate of the 4 shows announced at MomoCon. If you thought Food Wars or Demon Slayer was one of them, sorry but nope, because they actually FELL THROUGH." So what were the 4 shows announced at MomoCon that FW and DS were not among? -

So you're saying Food Wars isn't airing after they already aired promos for it last week? oO That's pretty late in the game for a deal to fall through. -
Damn, felt earthquakes two days in a row.

That stuff is fine. Good in fact. Not what I'm talking about. "So you're saying there's never been an aftershock with a greater magnitude than the quake preceding it? (Is this the APOCALYPSE?!!)" "No, that's not all that unusual. (names several)" "Is this going to trigger the San Andreas fault? (Is CA going to fall into the sea?") "Nope, too far away. We've had major quakes a lot closer, so not going to happen." "Why didn't the alert system warn everybody!!? (Scientists are useless!)" "We didn't have it set up right for L.A., the cutoff points were too low. It worked fine near the epicenter. The system didn't fail, our expectations were wrong. (Yeah, our bad, sorry.)" "What about X Fault? Is that one going off next? When was the last time it had one this big? (Is the APOCALYPSE tomorrow?)" "Pleistocene, I think. Prehistoric definitely. (cool your jets, there are other important things to worry about.)" It just gets on my nerves the way they question them and what they keep asking, because it's clear what they're fishing for is either a scandal (Alert System FAILED!!!) or a fearmongering headline, and not useful information. They both did a good job of handling them, but it was too annoying to keep watching. -

I was looking at the Did You Feel It? maps the USGS has and lol, they had people reporting all the way to the Canadian border. Yeah, no. Quite a few reported from Sacto, but I didn't feel either one of these. I can't stand watching the news for very long because the reporters are all idiots. It was downright painful watching them grilling the USGS guy and the CalTech seismologist hoping to get them to either say science is just totally useless because we can't perfectly predict earthquakes, or to say something they can whip up a hyperbolic panic over. Ah jeez, I'm an Elder now? Way to twist the knife, boards. -
But Armin narrated the beginning of Season 1, so that's kind of a big clue that he should survive all this.

Rie Matsumoto (Kyousogiga, Blood Blockade Battlefront). Also all the Precure stuff, which I've never seen. But the other two are visual tours de force, fantastic feasts of controlled chaos and masterful storytelling that make sense despite the pandemonium. Honestly I think she gives Masaaki Yuasa a run for his money, in a style that's much more accessible. While it was still good, I think BBB&B suffered from not having her at the helm to deftly navigate its lunacy. Sayo Yamamoto (Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Michiko & Hatchin, Yuuri on Ice). She also served as episode and/or unit director for Texhnolyze, Gunslinger Girl, Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven, Ergo Proxy, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Psycho-Pass, Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul, Space Dandy, and the Japanimator Expo ONA Endless Night. Regardless of what sort of anime she's directing, there's always a sense of warmth and comfort underlying it all (yes, even Psycho-Pass! What I mean by that is that I always feel like she cares about the characters and isn't just having fun torturing them), and it always looks fabulous.

It's about clinical depression.

Zeni still needs to tone the whole screaming wimp act down about 20 notches. The Magnificent Steiner isn't going to show up enough to make up for it if he keeps that up the rest of the time.

I'm watching all the things. Just finished up watching Ao-chan Can't Study. I was expecting it to be more ecchi, but it turned out to be kinda sweet and sometimes funny. I really liked Kijima, but he was really too good to be true. I don't know how he put up with Horie's crazy mixed signals. But this jiiiiiiiiiiii face after she suspected Kijima of not being as virginal as he claimed made me lol: I don't think I've ever seen bigger pupils on any character ever, not even Puss-in-Boots.

They don't have to. Burden of proof is on Vic, and in libel cases with public figures (and he'll have a hard time arguing he's not a public figure when half of his complaint is not getting to get paid to attend cons as a guest celebrity) that bar is pretty damned high. He has to prove not only that what they've said isn't true, but that they knew it wasn't true and said it anyway to intentionally cause him harm. I don't think he can do that. Especially after "apologizing" and promising to "take time away to meditate and pray" on his actions after the shit hit the fan. (quotes may not be verbatim quotes, I just don't feel like looking up his exact wording.) If he had been innocent all along, he wouldn't have apologized in any manner. It was only after that didn't magically fix everything this time like he expected it to, and new allegations kept coming out, that he started denying he'd ever done anything wrong. And no, there's no reason for you to have to leave the boards over this.

Sevakis was accused of stalking, by one woman, but he was easily able to prove the allegations false and that was the end of it. It turned out that she was the one harassing him for years. It's also a funny accusation since he's gay. Mignogna's got dozens of complaints against him, going back decades, and the best he can do is offer "I don't remember it like that" as a defense.

Zombie Jesus, he's more annoying than Asta. His super hearing seems to be the only thing he brings to the table, but until he calms down, I'm gonna have to mute it when he's on. Heh, he has super hearing while he makes everyone else go deaf.

rants Haters/Complainers: Legacy of Spleen

It's been dying for awhile now, but my 'e' key finally gave up the ghost this morning. My computer is so old they no longer make this keyboard anymore. Lots of ones are compatible I guess, but they also seem to have batteries that need recharging through ports I don't have. Looks like I just have to get used to remembering that 'e' is now F3. It would have to be the most used letter in the alphabet. Update: So that didn't work out so well. F3 is just too far a stretch for typing. So now it's 3 --> e and F3 --> 3. Ahh, that's much better. -
Man, Arifueta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou sounds like a direct ripoff of Shield Hero, except set in a classroom for added boredom, with a touch of Abyss for spice. Not seeing a ton that interests me (other than all the ones Queen mentioned). But yay! Mo Dao Zu Shi is returning, so that's a definite watch. I'm not sure what to think about Ensemble Stars! I'm wary because too many characters plus plaid pants. But David Production! I suspect I'm in only if the season turns out to be much leaner than it already looks.

The whole competition has just been great. Terrific sense of humor driving it all. Still can't get over how Tuesday always looks like she's been lobotomized or something. I liked Pyotr's dance. Nice animation. Song was ok too.

"Vic is a perfect and literal angel from Heaven who is incapable of doing wrong." "That statement is blatantly false and thereby defamatory." These lawyers don't seem to know how to lawyer gud.

They sure do like blasting heads off in this series.

Even if that were true, why would that be something to fear?

We're at about 3x the normal ave. rainfall for May in the last 5 days and we're not done yet. It's just weird, but I'm really not complaining - I love the low 60s temps before we shoot back up to 90s and we can use the additional rain for the aquifers. It's the batshit unpredictability I don't like these days. -
Yeah, that was a deliberate "soy-boy" insult, a favorite of the alt-right and mgtows.
-
Glad you liked it. Koto sounds to me like a cross between a banjo and a harp, which are two instruments you wouldn't imagine working together.
-
We finally did get some koto music in episode 5, and it was great. The full song uninterrupted. I linked it instead of embedding in case you'd rather get the full effect in the episode before hearing the whole piece.

In subs and other text, I keep reading that as Urotsukidoji.

[bumper] Rohan: "You're messing with the wrong artist!" Oooh, Toonami has a wicked sense of humor.
