Are you talking about their chicken sandwich fight with Chik-fil-A? There have literally been zero tv ads about it here, which is what I was posting about, and I've seen 1 meme about it, which was so obtuse I didn't know what it was even about until now. It is not the first thing that comes up on a google search, and I don't have any reason to be googling Popeye's normally anyway, so why would I even know about this? If you meant something else, I have even less reason to know about it.

I can't use my computer during heat waves, so I end up watching a lot of tv. Seeing tons of weirdly named new drugs (Mavyret? Does that sound like a cure for HepC to anyone?) and Popeye's ads, where the supposedly Cajun woman responsible pops a sample piece into her mouth and reacts with the most "meh, that'll do, box it" face I've ever seen. I've never eaten there, since there aren't any close to me. Is it any good? But what I really want to know is this: what kind a sadist creates a "2 can eat for $10" box with 2 sides, 2 biscuits, and five pieces of chicken? I mean, you know this is going to end in bloodshed, right?

Piling on to Shiki and Mushi-shi. For more of a time investment, seconding Haikyuu! and Natsume's Book of Friends, and adding Monster and Magi. And if you liked Ergo Proxy, you'll probably also enjoy Eden of the East. Loving the chilling creepiness of Shiki as I do, I am also a huge fan of Ghost Hound, especially for it's amazing and disturbing sound design which is like an earwig drilling quietly into your brain unnoticed. However, it seems most people really, really hate the characters' astral forms, which look like transparent-skulled fetuses with monkey butts (or like the aliens in Strange Planet). I thought they were adorable though.

In the more quirky LWA vein, I'd recommend Eccentric Family, both seasons. About a family of shape-shifting tanuki (one of whom lives as a frog at the bottom of a well) in Kyoto trying not to get eaten by humans, while living among them. It's fun, beautifully animated, warm and touching, intriguing, surprising and tells a tightly woven story. Noragami is pretty fun. About a minor god named Yato and his relationship with all the other gods who hate him and a human girl who keeps leaving her body around. Some good action and some feels too. Re: Zero is one of the best of the isekai genre out there, and Subaru is certainly not the typical OP isekai hero. Another more recent title that really flew under the radar is Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens. About a city where like 75% of the population are hit men, or hit-men adjacent. It's great fun, as long as you check your real-world morality at the door (like you'll be cheering for the torturer when he finally lands a job!). It's not as crazy as say, Baccano! (which I also recommend if you haven't seen it), but a good time still, and you don't need to take notes. If you haven't already seen it, I'd recommend Now and Then, Here and There. It's pretty depressing though, but thought-provoking. Don't let the first 15 min fool you. For something completely different...puppets! Definitely check out the bad-ass sword-slingers-on-strings of Thunderbolt Fantasy! Costuming! Swords! Puppets! Blood spray! Dismemberment! Puppets! Flying pterodactyl skeletons! Sorcery! Humor! Gen Urobuchi! Puppets!!! See it now!

Thanks! I checked about a week ago and it wasn't up yet.

I thought more Mo Dao Zu Shi was supposed to drop this summer too. What happened to that?
-
And I'm glad you did! Thanks for the info. I can stop chewing on it now until revelations.

Well...I guess for now is it a scar or a birthmark or something else? And if it's not really spoilery, why it changed. The how, if it's a scar, or the what it means, if it's a birthmark, I can wait on that.
-
So is that a birthmark on his head instead of the scar I always thought it was? Or did his dad get the exact same injury (kagura dancing must be hazardous!)? If it's a birthmark, why did it change so dramatically after the forest testing?
-
It's really good so far. It's a real slow burn, but that's fine. I like all the characters, which is kinda amazing. Having a lot of fun with Dr. Stone too. Every time I think they're going to half-ass the science, they fool me and do it right.

rants Haters/Complainers: Legacy of Spleen
Gina Szanboti replied to mthor's topic in General Discussion
LIFE WTR. So is there something in it that makes it illegal for you to call it water, or did you use your monthly quota of vowels sending ransom notes? LIFE WTF. -
The out is "normal wear and tear." I had one that the canvas frayed at the top of the bag and the zipper would only work one way, and they refused to fix it or replace it because normal wear and tear or some shit. I was pissed.

I doubt Beard even knows what "hearsay" means. This is the same guy that accused the defendants' lawyer of "ex parte" communications (which also implicates the judge!) over a file Beard received via the Court's electronic file transfer system. So no, clearly not "ex parte."

Kyoto Police Release Names of 10 Victims Who Died in Kyoto Animation Fire T.T

Or he just didn't remember the name of someone whose work didn't even make it into the first round, however long ago. He probably doesn't remember all the names of all the authors who submitted to the last contest and made it into the semi-finals. I'm sure they get dozens if not hundreds of submissions each year.

That's my toolbar and all the emojis (except robots, 5 seasonals, a pawn and a moon. Anyway, I've derailed this too much already, and it's a thread I didn't want to derail.
-
We do? Where do we have those? They're not under the emoji on the toolbar.
-
But I can't put that in a post. Well, I can, but I have to make it smaller and it has a dot and a link included, which I don't want. Why can't we just have a regular one in the list? T.T
-
What are the "5 big emojis"? Also where are they? oO

Another death, making it 35 now. He was only in his 20s. In a bit of less depressing news, Honobu Yonezawa, the author of the Hyouka novels, donated about $9,200 to the relief fund. So that was nice. Why don't we have any crying emojis? Are we too manly to shed tears over anything?

I don't think it's so much time travel per se, but that all Eldians that ever lived are linked, like in the graphic showing all the rivers of being flowing back to Ymir, or like the Force, and that shared link is usually only active when asleep or when touching. When Eren first woke up the first thing he said was, "Who am I?" because he wasn't dreaming of a past history, he was experiencing it first hand on the astral. So when the Owl mentioned Mikasa and Armin, he was experiencing Eren's thoughts for a moment. This is also why Ymir wrote her letter in blood, so that when Historia touched it, they'd be connected, and why Eren touching Grisha's Titan wife had the same effect. Just my take on it. Fun fact: In Norse mythology, Ymir was the first Jötunn (who were not frost giants (that's a Marvel thing), though most of them were definitely giants). He slept all his life until Odin and his brothers came and killed him and used the pieces of his body to build the earth. Not entirely unlike the Titans in the walls... I kinda feel like the connection among all the Eldians sort of harks back to Yggdrasil, the World Tree that connects the Nine Worlds (or the Nine Titans?). Jotuns for beginners.

34 dead now.
-
Not surprising, since they update at different times and it took 5 hours to put out the fire, so police were still finding bodies (which in Japan can't be officially called "dead" until a doctor says so). Looks like 33 is the final toll (12 men, 20 women, and 1 unknown ::shudder::), unless some of the more severely injured die, which could easily happen, though I hope not. I have to say I'm dreading finding out who was lost.
