I’m fully expecting Trump to concede to the 25th amendment in exchange for a full pardon.  A Dem controlled House probably accepts it just to be done with the orange man.

Trump is an idiot with a fragile ego. I don't think that's going to happen.

I think he's going to try to go full scorched earth.

Gaetz isnt getting to 50 to be confirmed. This nomination will be the first one pulled back by Trump when its clear, by Christmas, that he wont get to 50.

God I hope so.

Theres already articles, and a whole lot of chatter, in right-wing media saying this pick is doomed.

Even some trumpers are saying its 4d chess because Democrats will focus on killing this and others will said through.  Trying to say hes a sacrificial lamb.

Drumpf finally got a puppy.

Unfortunately they are notoriously germy little shits and it sounds like this one has gotten used to table scraps.

Better not let Noem in the same room.

This feels like a good time to remind MD of this gem.

Oh well, keep on enjoying killing small animals I guess.

Tell the joke again about how you don't side with animal killers.

Johnson seems to think it's early enough to schedule a special before January

Good luck with that, I guess?  Do these people have to be replaced by other republicans?  If not let Trump take all of them. If yeah,  then fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Turns out Mike Johnson has begged Trump to not poach anymore members from congress. I guess the seat doesn’t have to go to a member of the GOP. In NY Hochul has to call a special election

I hope Trump ignores him.

Luckily, ignoring people he should listen to is effortless to him.

House seats can only be filled via special elections, Senate seats have temporary appointments depending on the individual state. But the reality is that these House seats are all dark red seats almost guaranteed to go red, so it's a temporary inconveniece.

The caveat is that post-Dobbs, the highest propensity voters who are most likely to follow all the news and participate in special elections are disproportionately Democratic. So there may be surprises.

Everyone knew it was going to happen but not this soon.

I wonder if Trump will toss him to the side like everybody else who has lost their usefulness to him.  If so, will Musk turn on him?
You know he has to have some dirt on Trump but he'd also likely be implicating himself.

uh ok?

He picked a guy who is one of the most hated by his colleagues in the House. It’s like a middle finger to Kevin McCarthy who dragged his balls through gravel and glass to get Trump to love him.

I don’t see this bringing together the House Republican factions that hate each other worse than Democrats.

The one hope I see in the Trump appointments from the House is that Trump voters tend not to show up when he’s not on top of the ticket. But if you have a district that’s willing to elect Gaetz multiple times, they’re probably already predisposed to electing sacks of shit to office.

And apparently RFK is getting the Health and Human Services secretary job.

Please don’t let the Senate confirm this.  Please.  He’s the absolute worst mix of ignorant and evil.

When the kids are dying of measles and polio makes a big comeback that Trump vote won’t be looking so good not to mention everyone losing teeth once fluoride is taken out of the drinking water. It’ll be good times. Exactly the kinda shit chaos goblins were hoping for

If those same Senators will tell RFK to go fuck himself, I might not be desperately scrambling for a job with an international bank to get a work visa.

Then again, it would be some fucked up shit if the blue states keep the health requirements in place.

I really think that he’s dead in the water. Trump may not get his wish for recess appointments if he keeps pushing names like this. Republicans still want power after he is gone and allowing the people he’s named go through is tantamount to potential political suicide for every Republican that didn’t win in a lopsided MAGA state.

I really thought he’d deep six RFK after the election because I thought he’d actually be too crazy even for Trump but I guess Trump is nuttier than even his 2020 version.

Many of the sitting GOP know that Trump voters don’t turn out in midterms. If they allow the shit to pile out of the outhouse hole, they’re gone. If they piss off Trump now, they know he’ll have to get over it to  prevent getting castrated in 2026.

I think one thing to mull is that Trump is going to be a lame duck president. He doesn’t have to worry about being re-elected but many Republicans do. They got to look at winning again in 2026 and 2028. Since Trump accomplished what he wanted, he’s probably not going to give a shit what happens to the party now. He just wants to stay out of prison and make money.

In his heart, he would rather be at parties with Lady Gaga and other people he sees as the “real elites.” It probably kills him that he’s surrounded by people he secretly hates. The dude was at his happiest when he was invited to party with stars and the liberal old money families. Being cast out really eats him.

So, let me get this straight.

The guy who has been using his position as an active congressman to avoid getting dragged away to jail for the things he's already known to have done is now a civilian, effective immediately?

Fire up the hibachi, it's roasting time - caveman flavored.

You don’t think he’s expecting a pardon? He is one of the Mark-Lagos crowd that is part of Trump’s personal Greek choir after all.

If he gets hits now though, he'll still have almost two months of clenching his cheeks in a jail somewhere before that can happen.

IF it happens.

Drumpf has the mental capacity of a goldfish if it isn't about him personally and/or he can make rage noises over it. He didn't pardon Epstein after all and that guy supplied the party.

Colorado's Democratic governor cheers RFK Jr. pick for HHS

https://www.axios.com/local/denver/2024/11/14/jared-polis-democrat-governor-rfk-jr-hhs

"What he's saying: Kennedy "will help make America healthy again by shaking up HHS and FDA," Polis said in a Thursday statement on X. "What I'm most optimistic about is taking on Big Pharma and the corporate ag oligopoly to improve our health."

The intrigue: Polis appeared aware that his statement would be controversial. He asked people to dive deeper into the issues "before you mock him or disagree."

  • In a subsequent social media post, Polis backtracked, saying he "will hold any HHS secretary to the same high standard of protecting and improving public health.""

For all the pearl clutching at RFK, this actually is a pick that easily could have bi-partisan support. RFK is very skeptical of Big Pharma and their ability to hide from lawsuits, thinks the Gov should be able to negotiate prices, and thinks Americans should be able to import drugs from Canada. All points that a lot of Liberals make.

He also is a huge champion against processed food, and thinks Obesity is our biggest health crisis.

He gets a lot of shit, but hes also pretty spot on with a lot of whats causing health problems in this country. Ultra processed foods, artificial sweeteners and colors, all sorts of chemicals in our food. These are generally bad for you. Im very excited to see what he can do to help fight back on these problems.

Just fuckin no. His push to remove heavily processed foods aside, he’s a terrible pick. Anti vaccine. Anti science. You and your governor sound really fuckin dumb.

Omg what a shit show that was. The right went bananas

anyone objectively saying RFKJ is a good pick is an idiot. I’m sorry but it’s true. He’s right about one thing. The rest is a mess of bullshit and anti science. More people need to know about his adventures in Harlem when he used to cop heroin.  Asshole is claiming a lot more time away from drugs than he actually has. I know this because in the mid and late 90s I was in rehabs and detoxes with people who used to see him up there all the time.

His vaccine skepticism caused a measles outbreak in Samoa resulting in 83 dead.  Mostly children.

Fuck him and fuck the brain worm for not finishing him off.
