We all did, why wouldn't they, after airing season 1 in the back-end rerun slot and giving it a full-run marathon night? That said, regardless of the season's actual quality - which isn't good, based on what I've read and the 6.93 MAL score - should be interesting to watch either way. [and so the wait for dr. stone s2 continues] Edited March 17, 2021 by PokeNirvash
DangerMouse
Boom there it is. I'll be curious to see it given the response and either way it'll at least be good to hear the dub cast again. Yup, we need Dr. Stone S2! Edited March 18, 2021 by DangerMouse
EmpressAngel
Whelp, they probably already spent the money on it before it turned into such a trainwreck so might as well air it. I still don't trust Phil.
AnimationFan14
This was destined to air as soon as season 1 episode 1 saw the light of day on Toonami. Little did anyone know then the not so well reviewed season 2 that was to come. I have only read reviews, but it’s coming and I am still going to watch this season to see it for myself. Like Danger mentioned the dub cast is great and it’ll be great to have them back. Edited March 20, 2021 by AnimationFan14 1 1

OwlChemist81
They obviously made some kind of crazy deal to only air Food Wars at 1 AM. That's the only thing which makes a lick of sense. Either that, or they acknowledge that the new season is crap, so they gave it a bad timeslot. But Fire Force's final 5 episodes seem they will be buried at 2 AM so maybe that's not it? The1gairon
Why are we so butthurt about this? Here's why: SPOILERS!!!!!
Jman
Well, I guess now the hope is the Amazon Prime series does a better job. Still don't know why that's a thing.
PokeNirvash
You know, to "celebrate" the ending of Neverland S2, I'm thinking about doing another listing of all the anime aired by [as]/Toonami in order of MAL score/popularity.
Top Gun
This is going to be one of the worst acquisitions in [as] history, and it's not even their fault. What a motherfucking shit-show. 1
OwlChemist81
From what I understand, it will be to the first season what InuYasha: The Final Act was to the actual InuYasha.
PokeNirvash
I dunno, Inuyasha Final Act's problem wasn't so much that it was a poor adaptation, just that the pacing for the first bunch of episodes was too lightning-quick for even the above-average viewer. I thought the pacing settled out well past the 1/3 point and the ending conclusive and understandable.
MasqueradeOverture
Listen, anything's better than One Punch Man S2 or Tokyo Ghoul. It can't be that bad in comparison. 1

OwlChemist81
Apparently, this thing will likely be that in reverse: starting normally paced, but then speeding into a blur. But that's just going by what I've heard. It could still tell a coherent story for casual viewers that only pisses off the manga fans because there's SOOOOOOO much more, apparently.
PokeNirvash
Eh, I've heard animeonlies say they think it sucks, so really it all depends on the person watching.
The1gairon
How hte fuck did one of the best Toonami shows in the past year become THIS poor excuse of a season?!
Daos
Well it sounds like this season is bad from what everyone is saying. That is a bummer. I can see why though.... it really looks like it borrowed heavily from another anime.

Top Gun
This has nothing to do with Demarco. The first season was an absolute masterpiece, and getting the second season was a no-brainer. It just so happened to be one of the most spectacular production fuck-ups in anime history. The deal was probably already worked out before the nosedive happened. 2

PokeNirvash
In Jingles' defense, the blobfish doesn't look too bad in its natural habitat. It's not a perfect metaphor, but I can understand the interpretation, as surface-level as it ultimately is.

And keep in mind, manga readers consistently consider the final arc the worst in the series. So instead of condensing a long but good arc, it's condensing an arc people already thought was rushed. The1gairon
This is like if 4Kids skips select episodes and an entire important arc of the manga in their One Piece dub, only this time an ANIME STUDIO IN JAPAN is doing the equivalent!!!! Now, could you kindly tell me WHY the ABSOLUTE FUCK any production committee would see someone pitch to do this, look at each other straight in tha face, and say "Mmmmm... Profit!" Did too many workers succumb to karoshi and leave a bunch of unfinished episodes? Did a Shinto priest curse production by leaving too many empty canisters of gasoline on the studio's doorstep? Was the lead director touched inappropriately by his uncle, not as a child, but as a grown man 10 weeks into the writing process?

I dunno, maybe? I mean, despite being credited as director all the way through Mamoru Kanbe had no hands-on involvement past storyboarding for episode 5, so him dropping out of the production, be it the result of handsy relatives or something macroscopically more plausible, wouldn't be out of the question behind how it wound up sucking so bad.

It can't be that bad in comparison. I dunno about that. The visuals for OPM season 2 were a huge let down but the story was basically there. Tokyo Ghoul Root A is fair comparison here but I have to say I managed to get more out of Root A then I've gotten out of the 2nd anime season of The Promised Neverland and that's a dang shame because the first season was great. If you thought they stood around and talked a lot in season one, season two take that to a whole different level. There's a bunch of scenes where they kids are just standing around as something is explained to them where in the manga the reader was treated to a depiction of what they're talking about. So it's pretty dull even when the story takes interesting turns. On top of that the anime by-passes what a lot of people consider to be the best arc of the whole story and that's just a waste. And the viewers won't even see the disappointment coming because the first few episodes are thrilling. So I expect plenty of people will watch the first episode and be like "oh people didn't know what they were talking about, this is good" but they'll see soon enough that the anime is writing checks it can't cash.
OwlChemist81
Then it would be completely asinine for [as] to move it up once Attack on Titan ends, huh? Hopefully that 12:30 slot is reserved for something with known QUALITY like Dr. Stone Season 2 or MHA Season 5. Selfishly, I would like to see SSSS.Dynazenon there, and I believe it WILL come to Toonami eventually, but not anytime too soon. Maybe more like July, though they could surprise me.
