That's right, folks. ASS CLASS at 2 AM led the block! Holy Calamafark... that special didn’t do well on live TV. It was a great performance IMO. I wonder how well it did on HBO Max, the YouTube video only has about 211,000 views so I guess the TV airing has that beat by at least 90,000. Ass Class held out at 2am but I hope it doesn’t lose steam in November when it moves to 1:30am. And while Eric Andre probably didn’t do DBS any favors, it’s still nice to see JoJo and Ass Class beat DBS reruns with 18-49 and total viewers. OwlChemist81
Ratings are in for "Cable Originals" for the last normal weekend of October, and JoJo had a solid network finish (for now): http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-10-24-2020.html A 0.2 (~140K) in 18-34? OwlChemist81
Well, predictably enough after the presumed Biden victory, news and sports dominated the Top 50 to the point that the 2 hours of Toonami that were eligible to make it missed it. That said, the anime premieres did OK, but then Gemusetto was down considerably: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-11-7-2020.html It remains to be seen if Shippuden and Demon Slayer could escape from the abyss and manage to do alright, but we will most likely know later today, along with the Primal duo. Jman
You mean the unfunny American animated show did poorly on a block filled with adult anime? I’m stunned. Look, sometimes writers need to find the right outlet for their work. I’ve said it before but Tim & Eric found their sweet spot in advertising and writing for stuff like Steve Brule (that and Moonbase 8 is what Space Force should have been), but Tom Goes to the Mayor assuredly did not play to those strengths on an animation block. Maybe that’s the case here, that this guy shouldn’t be doing anime parodies on an anime block conditioned to view American anime parodies, with very few exceptions (Megas XLR, we miss you) as complete dreck. OwlChemist81
It will certainly be interesting to see what they do with Gridman. Since it's older (late '18), a direct replacement of Gemusetto might not be out of the question. But I do find it funny that there are so many BIG fish out there in early 2021, some emerging in late 2020: AOT Final Season; Yasha-Hime; and Dr. Stone Season 2, and somehow SSSS: GRIDMAN is the show they used the final Pre-Flight to announce. BUT they MAY also be able to do with Gridman (or should I say "SSSS") what they could not with Mob Psycho 100: air the 2nd season in 2021! SSSS.Dynazenon (TV) - Anime News Network Yes, that's right! SSSS saga has a new season, and it's coming out in Japan in April, which of course means we'll probably get it in July! I would expect Promised Neverland Season 2 to fill the stopgap! Just a 0.15 in 18-34 for SAO but a 0.19 for Fire Force!? Did Toonami really shoot up >25% from 12:30 to 1 AM!? And then Ass Class GAINED in Men 12-34 after that, beating BOTH its predecessors!? Another weird thing is that 25-54s are considerably higher across the board than 18-49s. I don't think that usually happens, but it could indicate Toonami is beginning to skew slightly older. Only time will tell if this is a high or low benchmark for 2021. Hopefully AOT's return shakes things up a bit next week.
