It took a while to hear back, but I have an interview later this month!

Time to get all this weed out of my system I guess.

Oooooh, I’m so jealous and so happy for you!  Good luck!  My dream job is to be a librarian and up until a couple of years ago I was a volunteer at my local library.  I love being around books and the library is my escape and my “safe zone” (I know that sound cheesey but it’s true). I’m disabled and therefore I can’t work but if I could I’d definitely try to find a career as a librarian.

As far as detoxing weed,  drink nothing but green tea for two days and you should be fine. Green tea 🍵 pretty much cleanses everything from your body. 🤓

this is 'pinnable' material ~ a mod should make this happen. xD

@garbagepailcat all the good vibes going out to you.

i always thought working at a library would be, just the best gig to have.

It doesn't take long for it to get out of your system.

It'll be out before you go for the interview, with little effort.

Of course, if you fail, you can always lie and tell them Governor Brian Kemp said he made weed legal, and get that ball rolling.

Thanks everyone. Please tell me what to wear now like y’all did for bucket.

do you want to go shopping? or pick from your closet?

if the first, i would get something long skirt wise, comfortable flats, and a simple short sleeve 'flowy' but not too revealing.

something with a swoop neck, to wear a pretty camosole underneath.

if the second, show us what you got.

I'd go with a nice knee length skirt, comfortable  flats, and a simple light colored long sleeve blouse.

If you prefer, a comfortable pair of khaki slacks would also be appropriate. If you have lower leg tattoos, slacks might be a better option.

So my tattoos are everywhere, which really limits what I can wear. No skirts or dresses. Maybe a long skirt, but I don’t have one of those. I’m thinking slacks, but I also don’t have those either.

I must shop!

Would a polo and a cardigan be alright? I have lots of both. That seems library-y.

Next question, which is probably just me overthinking it, but eyeliner? I always wear big winged eyeliner, but is that too aggressive? Should I soften my makeup for this interview, or should I just do what I normally do?

I wouldn't stray from my make-up. It shows you take pride in your appearance, and aren't too lazy to present yourself well.

Also, the polo and cardigan with some nice slacks would be good too. Slacks or khakis. Probably khakis would be a nice match to the polo/cardigan combo.

do you have a tank that is form fitting? because that might look nice under a cardigan.

think about what you would wear day to day. what would be comfortable. i would invest in long skirts/slacks

that are not constricting.

eyeliner~i have to check your pic in the 'pic thread' hold please.

Hard to say what to wear for the interview. Libraries can be different. I interviewed for a job at one years ago. I didn't wear anything too fancy to it. It was the county library of the county I live in and it is not too big overall but they were super strict. As the interview went on they told me what would be expected of me to wear and what colors I could wear. Apparently anything too bright was bad(I was wearing blue buttoned shirt that day and they said it wouldn't fly)

A few years later I tried at the library in the county over. A much much bigger county library. I expected the same strictness or maybe even more. I was wrong. Wore something very similar to the interview and dress code was never brought up once and never has been(I work for that library system). Essentially as long as you don't look like crap they don't care.

So you never know going in what they are looking for, just try to look professional for the first impressions and then go from there.

Wardrobe really depends on the situation. I have a large one for a guy, cost of doing business I suppose.

I would think that khakis, flats and a cardigan would be fine for an interview. I would go for muted colors or the classic tan and white combo. Keep the make-up dialed back, maybe half the wing that you usually wear. Comfort is important, if you are stiff in your clothes you will appear as such to your interviewer. As far a shopping goes, after you get the job you can look at what is and isn't allowed, and tailor your wardrobe to fit. (No pun intended)

In any event, good luck and keep a ready smile, you'll be fine.

I use to work as an assistant at a public library. A lot of people think it's easy work but nothing can be further from the truth.

It can be very mentally exhausting. You're helping people find materials, doing research on their behalf, relaying information of the town and what's happening in the town, teaching imbeciles how to press enter on the keyboard (Funnily enough, the old people worked the computers better than the young people), people asking for help only for them to try to tell you how to do your job, parents who treat the library as a daycare center, weirdos, the crazies, and drama with the staff and above (I never imagined a library could have so much drama with the staff, managers, directors, and board members).

I genuinely do like working in a library environment but it's definitely not for the timid because it's a public institution that welcomes everybody and that brings all kinds of personalities to deal with.

Oh yeah, get ready for people to cuss you out or even try to fight you over having to use a library card.

To answer your question though, I’ll probably be cool unless there are children or something.

We use to have a filter system but it got in the way of blocking legit sites so we eventually got rid of that but the rules of obscene content still applied. We didn't look over peoples shoulders as we tried to respect their privacy but if we got wind of inappropriate material we would give patrons a warning. The worst offenders would have computer privileges revoked for a certain time period.

Thankfully, we didn't have it too bad in that category. One guy was on his phone and when he stood up had an erection (he was wearing sweat pants) and another guy was watching some hardcore porn in full view of everybody on one of the desktops.

Every library is different about porn on the computers. Some are very laid back and some are very strict. I'm of the personal opinion it shouldn't be watched in public libraries because the other patrons haven't given consent to be exposed to it. Sure, you can mind your business but public porn watchers can be very obnoxious and like to watch it in full view with the loudest volume in front of everyone. I'm sorry but I don't want to overhear some chick grunting and screaming during a gang bang while I try do some research on the Spanish Inquisition.

Also, the porn watchers were usually creeps who would try to jackoff right there in the library. I think one of ours was a pedophile too (He got banned and died).

I know I said a lot about this but I absolutely love libraries so I have a lot to say about them.

@garbagepailcat found your tag. xD

ok...they all look like acceptable interview outfits.

comfortable. not TOO much, and you can wear any of these on any given day at the job.

that being said.

i am partial to both 1 and 2. the first one gives off the 'carefree' vibe.

the 2nd is obvious librarian. both are good sets.

the choice is about which you are more comfortable in.

and since you are just starting off in the 'fancy pants' arena, and if you get this gig.

might i suggest 'delicate wash' and hang on pants hanger.

that will save on those little 'pills' that happen from over washing.

and one final thing.

you are a very pretty young woman.

i really hope you get this.

good vibes to you.

if it were me i'd base it on if the ladies already working there are like no-nonsense-serious librarians or we're-the-trendy librarians. if the former, 1 or 2. if the latter, 3 or 4. if you don't have this prior info, whichever they all look professional but #4 the least so
