i was thinking about this a while ago and it was really expensive then for an MBA. but i was thinking instead just to go for an MS instead at some crappy state school and spend far less

then the next step of the inquiry is: how will the masters help you make more money than it costs to get

my company partners with a college. if i really wanted to i could get an MS for about 10 or 12 grand, which is almost nothing considering an MBA is 100k from a local state school.

yeah.....but do you really have the money to blow? i mean at this age you most likely wont get a grant....can you afford to loan it out on top of your house payments? youll be down to 1 ramen a month

if the company has a financial partnership with the school and the degree will definitely help you out in your chosen field, then I totally accept your plan and give you permission to go back for a masters

if it was just because you were bored with life and wanted to pay full price to go back for something that probably wouldn't increase your earning potential, I'd probably be more concerned

you can always go back and get a masters....but if you cant actually afford it then its not the appropriate option

well realistically speaking i'd have to see. if they do installments over 2 years then i could probably reasonably afford it but i would actually be living on a ramen noodle budget

9k is more than i've spent in a month unless you count when i had to pay for the closing of the house and all the lender fees and what not. i think the most i ever pulled was close to 3 or 4 when i still had the apartment so i had no good excuse then

i mean the most i've splurged recently was $300. i can only splurge now in the low hundreds, unless they decide to actually promote me or give me a decent raise this year

I had a really lucrative contracting gig for a few months where I made about 12k a month. It was nice until the end of the year when I remembered I forgot to pay taxes on it and owed the IRS an extra 14k.

See the thing is I'm a fucking idiot. My spending habits are exactly the same whether I'm making 2k a month or 12k a month. I just spend all my money because I have money because I'm an idiot.

One day I wont be able to work any more and I wont have a retirement fund and I'll be fucked.

But paying your bills wont get me a box in the mail with some useless gadget inside it so there's no psychological payoff for me.

There are some cheap MBA programs online, and you said before that your work provides tuition reimbursement. Shouldn't set you back much.
