GunStarHero Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Incredibly nervous. It just "opened" this month with the grand opening next week. First interview was a meet and greet. Second one was cooking a dish and answering questions about the kitchen and sanitation. Final interview is going to be a short written exam followed by a cooking exam against two other candidates. 4 2
Raptorpat Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Good luck! Do all the candidates go through the three-step process or do only the best make it this far?
GunStarHero Posted January 17, 2018 Author Posted January 17, 2018 (edited) I am not sure because I was cherry picked from the applicants in the first place. Edited January 17, 2018 by GunStarHero

lily_cat Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Wow! That sounds like an intense process. But I'll see if I can afford your restaurant if I make it to Vegas again. Good luck! You'll do great. Just believe in yourself.
Codename: Jackass Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Put a lil' bit o' that special sumthin' into the dishes you prepare to win them over.
Zenigundam Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 You're so lucky. I can't cook for crap, but if I ever got on there and Gordon Ramsey tore apart my food and threw the plate into a wall, I'd try a taste of his dish and say, "Yeah, this sucks even worse than mine. How'd you get those Michigan stars or whatever?"and throw it backward. Man that would be badass...
NaBarney Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 It's amazing that there's an actual cooking competition involved 1
Codename: Jackass Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 When you can cook a mean five course meal that tastes good and looks pretty, you don't hide that light under a basket. You let that light shine bright.

You are already in the franchise, no? So you skill has already been recognized.....Are the other two brand new or did they come from a similar situation.
Chapinator_X Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Would the objective be to have kitchen mishaps, or to be like the chefs Gordon sends in to take over when there’s too many mishaps?

I am otherwise unaffiliated with both Caesar's Palace and Chef Ramsay. The other two people seem to be doing what I'm doing but I'm not 100% sure on that. Thank you for the well wishes too, guys! I don't think I'm going to get the job but I have to try. I never watched Hell's Kitchen but the restaurant has a hall of fame at the door showing all the winners. There's also a giant screen with Chef on it, playing pre recorded messages to entertain guests waiting at the door. The actual kitchen itself was split into three parts: back-end for prep; front-end for blue team; front-end for red team. Gives the illusion of two warring teams but I'd wager each team has a specific, overall set of tasks in the kitchen. Just dont know what that might be atm. 1
Poof Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Is it normal to have a cooking exam against other candidates or is that bc they’re based on a reality tv show?
Drunkenwarrior Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 The fact that you've made it this far makes you a success. Just keep doing what you've been doing and you'll be fine

No I have never done a "Cook off" against another person to get a job. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's to make us bring our A-game in the kitchen but then grade us all individually. For all I know, there's 3 spots available and we're auditioning for our own respective positions versus all of us vying for the same one.
NaBarney Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 You walk into the kitchen and see a film crew and cameras, one applicant has already been eliminated.

You have no idea how terrified I was walking up to the restaurant the first time and seeing the giant screen with Chef Ramsay on it. I legit thought it was him and was tensing up hardcore. 1 2
