It's been years since I've seen the '99 version, but oddly enough I remember the Hunter Exam in it more clearly than Yorknew; I do at least remember really liking the latter in that version. I never watched its OVAs' take on Greed Island, since someone at the time said it wasn't a great adaptation, but I'm toying with going back and watching it after Toonami gets through the arc to see how it compares. And yeah, I've heard really great stuff about Chimera Ant.

The pathetic thing is that he really doesn't. I will say that the 1999 anime adaptation covered the Hunter Exam much better in my opinion, but this version really nailed Yorknew, and I'm looking forward to seeing the future stuff that I haven't experienced before.

Haven't watched outside of anime/Toonami for years. Then again I haven't had cable in my bedroom since college, so it'd involve me going out of my way to do it.

Of course, and I've always had a bit of a fundamental revulsion to his basic sameface pattern. Which sucks, because when you look at characters like Frog and Robo from Chrono Trigger, it's clear the guy can do some really awesome non-humanoid work.

The very first forum I joined in my earliest n00b days was dedicated to a flying-shootey game series that I used a joystick to play, so I wanted to choose something pilot-related. I think I was originally going for Red Baron, but that was taken, so I settled for this instead. It fits, since I apparently "saw" the movie in theaters while in utero. I've used the same name almost everywhere ever since, with a few random letters chucked onto the front as needed.
