I highly doubt it, but that'd kick ass. -

All I know about that franchise is that there's some great porn of it.

Music References In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Top Gun replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Part I was literal Victorian gothic horror that almost entirely took place at night. Did you think its opening and ending were inappropriate? Real talk for you: have you seen or read all of Part IV? Do you have any idea as to its overall tone? And there have been at least two hundred musical references in what's aired of the franchise thus far. A one-off name on a minor character isn't the reason that song was used.- 15 replies

Music References In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Top Gun replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Part IV isn't meant to be explicit horror, at least not for most of its run. It's supernatural urban fantasy in which the setting is as much of a character as any of the actual people in it. Morioh is a crazy, noisy, bizarre town, and the opening fits just fine with the quirky bunch of Stand users that inhabit it. And the whole point of the ED themes is that they represent the sorts of music that Araki was listening to when writing the various parts of the manga. No one ever said anything about them necessarily matching the tone. Does 70s progressive rock bring to mind gothic horror? Does understated electronica call to mind a nigh-hopeless battle against an all-powerful foe?- 15 replies

Well there is some uncertainty as to how far those rights extend. All else being equal, the original poster should hold copyright over what they post, unless they've agreed to explicitly revoke that right. Like I said, the ASMB spelled it out pretty clearly, so a bit of clarification like that might help.

Music References In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Top Gun replied to PurgatoryGirl's topic in Anime & Manga
Yeah you're dead wrong, the OP and ED are great. And Korn or Slipknot? No thank you, I don't want to stab out my eardrums. Related question: was "Roundabout" a chart-topper in the 1880s?- 15 replies

What I REALLY hate about them is how they frequently fuck up the block's start and end times. I DVR the block every week, and I don't always watch shows in the order they air, since there's a few long-runners I'm a bit further behind on. So what'll happen is I'll go to watch an episode, and sometimes it'll get cut off a minute or two before it ends, or I'll have the last minute or so of another show tacked onto the front of it. Hell, I wound up getting spoiled on one of the biggest events of IBO season 2 because I played another show and saw someone get shot almost immediately. I was more than a little pissed.

Nope! You're posting on a private site owned by someone. When you post on said site, you agree to certain terms and conditions, which may or may not include relinquishing all rights to the content posted. The ASMB used to have a big fat disclaimer about that when you registered, but I don't know what the TOS Luuv and/or KN implemented here say exactly. If they don't address it at all, then theoretically each poster would hold the copyright over their own posts, but good luck trying to bring it to court. Edit: It doesn't seem like the TOS when you create a new account mention this either way, sooooo *shrug*.

Show announcement: Megalo Box on December 8
Top Gun replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
If you mean it calls me to change the channel as quickly as humanly possible, then yes. That being said I do expect this to be a good show. -

In retrospect, Clone Wars was actually pretty good

It amazes me equally that people keep making said claims despite them falling to pieces under any sort of legitimate critical scrutiny. But I'd rather not rehash that thread again. -

Tennis is pretty damn big in the US, but you have to think about demographics. It tends to trend richer and whiter, and a lot of those people probably have memberships at athletic or dedicated clubs. Public courts may not see as much traffic, but even so, they're usually popping on summer nights around here. -

I'll never understand what the hell they were doing with those two shows. They were fine as more niche-interest series on Jetstream (along with the excellent Hikaru no Go, among others), but who the fuck in their right mind thinks showing random out-of-order episodes will do anything for anyone? The sad part is that I kind of enjoyed MAR: it was a totally-inoffensive tournament shounen with a surprisingly good dub. -
