The only part of the series I would say was substantially better in the '99 adaptation in an actually impactful way was the Hunter Exam. I don't really remember enough details about the Zoldyck and Heaven's Arena arcs in the '99 version to speak to whether there were any significant differences, but I do know that Yorknew was done about equal justice in both, and after that it's all 2011. I don't give a shit if people like different things than I do. What I do give a shit about is when people incessantly spew deliberately misleading or objectively false statements about a particular series, especially when they've been corrected about them many times before. That goes double when said people incessantly overlook massive flaws in the series they enjoy while attempting to pin those same flaws on other series. When you do these things over many years, you essentially give up any and all claims of credibility on literary criticism. If you don't want to be called out on this behavior, then stop doing it.

Because that's exactly what he's still saying? The block has never had any issues airing some cheesecake, but the line gets drawn at bouncing funbags and crotch close-up all over the place.

It was a smaller studio that handled the dub, and a lot of the lower-tier dubs back then had a similar sound. I think it probably came from a lack of directing and script writing skill to match lip flaps while still sounding natural.

I've heard far worse. It's definitely rough, especially the supporting characters, but Jinto and Lafiel's actors get more comfortable in their roles, and Banner's dub is a definite improvement. I'd certainly say Utena's sounded worse from the bits I've heard of it. That's a series that absolutely relies on emotional nuance, so a mediocre dub harmed it much more than Crest/Banner.

Like two of those are actual "fantasy," so no.
