In what universe do you think we live in where the plaintiff in a defamation case simply has to say, "Yeah I didn't do it," and then the burden of proof magically shifts to the defendant? Because it's not this one. As the plaintiff, Vic must demonstrate preponderance of the evidence that the plaintiffs knowingly uttered false statements against him with the deliberate intent to harm him, or that the plaintiffs actively conspired to do so. This is basic truth.
