  1. I like fun, but this shit ain't it. The vast majority of it is just...nothing. No attention given to crafting a believable world populated with engaging characters, just Truck-kun and then either random comedy lolz or "no we didn't rip these mechanics straight from a generic JRPG why would you say that." I've yet to read a premise for any of these series that's instilled a desire for me to give them a try. You know what were fantastic, though? The older girl-in-another-world series that came out long before the term "isekai" was a gleam in anyone's eye. Escaflowne, Magic Knight Rayearth, Twelve Kingdoms. Shows that actually gave a damn about world-building.
  2. The isekai fad needs to die in a goddamn fire.
  3. I'm not sure I could make it through this marathon. Damn show made me shit bricks constantly.
  4. Well that's fucking cursed.
  5. If a girl turns into a babbling idiot and/or a generic violent tsundere at the mere thought of spending time alone with a boy, yes, that makes her poorly-written. I'd be fine with the author having Noelle show interest in Asta if it was well done, but her ham-fisted "romantic" moments are just cringeworthy. Naruto's relationships were a total clusterfuck, but hell, even it managed to do a better job at portraying something resembling actual human emotions than Black Clover has. And no, just because a male character helps a female character out at some point does not mean she should automatically fall head-over-heels for him, nor should she be obnoxiously jealous when another female character shows interest. That does nothing but cheapen the female characters for the sake of asinine harem hijinks. Mimosa would be a fine character if she wasn't constantly fawning over Asta and shooting daggers at her cousin. The barmaid is even worse, because she's a bit character introduced primarily for a single arc, so there's absolutely no story reason for her to fall for Asta other than creating cheap drama with Noelle. Just have Asta help people, have them be grateful to him, and leave the bullshit out of it.

  7. Or the reason Noelle's cousin Whatserfaise does. Or the reason the barmaid does. Oh right, shitty writing.
  8. You constantly repeating a patently-false statement doesn't make it any less false. And oh yes, the girl who does nothing but turn into a blushing tsundere mess at the very thought of a particular boy is totally a strong and well-written female character.
  9. I'm not really sure where all of the "hard work" they cited was going given that they were essentially providing streamrips.
  10. The fact that you're attempting to defend a pile of shit like Black Clover while simultaneously not recognizing what made Mobile Suit Gundam an all-time classic pretty much discounts your opinions on everything. Black. Clover. Is. Not. A. Parody. It's a low-tier paint-by-numbers shounen that apes tropes from other better series without understanding how to properly use them. The examples you're giving do not constitute parody by any definition of the word. Asta and Leopold arguing with each other was just fucking obnoxious, nothing else. And I'm not even going to ask how or why you remember some offhand post I made three years ago, but you didn't even get my point right. I stated that most of the okama depictions were problematic, but that Ivankov in particular was portrayed different. Try again. And FYI, most sane forums don't allow for multi-posting, because it's fucking obnoxious and turns threads into an unreadable mess. Either actively participate in a conversation, or ignore it. Stop spamming the shit out of every thread you post in responding to every single little minutia.
  11. Don't mind Jingo, his handlers are paying him good money to spew bullshit.
  12. One day we will all have mecha.
  13. Oh that looks fantastic.
  14. Even if we live in the bizarro-world where Black Clover was meant to be parody, it'd be the sort of fuckawful parody that rises to the level of a Family Guy cutaway gag. "Let's have every character have only one super-obnoxious character trait that they never stop using! Comedy genius!"
  15. Gundam Unicorn was widely critically acclaimed by those who had the slightest clue about the franchise as a whole, and I don't know what the fuck you're on about because I don't think I've ever said shit about those characters. But by all means do keep completely ignoring threads for a week at a time only to dump several overwrought posts in a row. It makes for such compelling reading.
  16. Being a parody would imply that Black Clover's author has any semblance of writing skills. He doesn't.
  17. I believe in life after love.
  18. Sweet, getting to the good part.
  19. Huh, I had no idea. I don't think I've heard anyone mention it in a solid decade.
  20. People remember Gantz?
  21. Poke, I know you didn't mean anything negative by it, but maybe try to avoid putting opinions into other people's mouths in the future. My thoughts on series are my own, and I don't align them with anyone else's just for the sake of doing so. If I've had a lot of the same opinions over the years as someone else, maybe it's because we've both seen enough anime to recognize the massive writing and character development issues that most of the series you mentioned share. I don't think it's hard to see how multiple people would reach the same conclusions about them. And I have never once said anything about Food Wars implying that it's "great." What I've said is that it is utterly hilarious, because it commits so hard to its over-the-top nature and never once lets up, and it's a blast to watch because of that. It's a series that knows exactly what it wants to be and does it very well.
  22. That is literally how they plug you into the Matrix.
  23. One of those podcasts is not like the others...
  24. Tell me one thing Black Clover does that hasn't been done much better by at least a dozen other past shounen series. Give me more than two or three characters who aren't solely defined by one single hideously-annoying personality quirk that's repeated ad nauseam every single time they're on-screen. (Any time the Black Bulls are gathered together I want to murder everything.) Show me one example of the series trying to take itself seriously that hasn't been crippled by ham-fisted writing. About the only thing I'll give Black Clover is that its animation team has managed to produce some jaw-dropping set pieces during big climactic battles. But everything else is derivative paint-by-numbers mediocre shounen with an eminently-punchable cast. And what are you even on about Poke.
