Ashi - The one thing about Samurai Jack no one seems to agree on.
Top Gun replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Jack spent his whole childhood training to combat Aku and the last 50 years in a state of PTSD (not to mention the only girl we ever saw him like was literally Aku), while Ashi has never had anything resembling a normal human relationship before meeting Jack. How could they NOT be completely awkward once they started having feelings for each other? -
I think that portion of their society was definitely modeled on the behavior of bonobo chimpanzees, which engage in widespread sexual activities among group members (both heterosexual and homosexual) as a means of forming bonds and resolving conflicts. Encouraging same-sex activity as teens would allow for the release of pent-up hormones without the risk of teenage pregnancy, as well as helping form social bonds. If there was any sense of "growing out" of same-sex relationships, it was in the desire that the community's members eventually form family units and have children. Regardless, the series acknowledged that the children retained their feelings of affection as they grew older, and in any case, the whole overarching social engineering aspect of their society was definitely portrayed negatively.

Eh, I think it worked. You have two very fit, very attractive people fighting with every ounce of their being to avoid being killed by a horrible monster, they just barely manage to survive, there was obvious prior romantic tension between them...in the heat of the moment, they're going to go for each other, even if it's just a momentary dalliance. I know it got me to cheer last night, and I'm still okay with it in the light of day. -
Disappointed it's not Bridget.

Yeah, the nice thing is that nowadays, even a sub-$1000 build is plenty capable of handling a wide array of games with decent settings. Intel hasn't really done much improvement on the CPU end over the past few years, and now AMD is coming out with some sort of new architecture that people are hoping will drive innovation.

1. Can't you already do that with the "Replies" option next to your profile pic in the upper-right? 2. Maybe it's just me, but I always thought that was an exceedingly silly quirk of LIthium's setup. If you're responding to a point someone made, that's what quoting is for; if not, you're just making a post in the overall thread anyway. All it seemed to lead to on Lithium was a massive pain in the ass when a mod would move an offending post, and then every single post in the reply chain from it would be removed automatically for no good reason. It got to the point when I'd always make a point to only reply to the OP so that my posts wouldn't get inadvertently eaten. And out of random curiosity, why are we moving away from SMF in the first place? It's a nice fully-featured forum suite, and I've been around a number of sites that have been using it for more than a decade.

Really awesome mostly under-the-radar show. Anime has a pretty large amount of dystopian-future titles that explore the negative aspects of technology, but I can't think of another one that tackles genetic and social engineering like this one does. It does a fantastic job of cultivating this slowly-growing sense of dread as more and more of the world's underpinnings are revealed. It's been a couple of years since I've watched it, so I'm not sure of the exact answers to your questions, but I'll do some thinking and see if anything comes to mind.

Didn't exactly stop Ichigo's parents, now did it?

If by "machete order" you mean "completely ignore the existence of the prequels," then yes, that is the proper order.

To each their own I guess. Personally I'll stick with my bitchin' mechanical keyboard.

I genuinely do not understand wireless full-sized keyboards. I mean a mouse I get, because the cord can be a pain sometimes, but your keyboard doesn't move in the first place. Just plug the thing in.

There were people who actually thought Blank Check was a good movie in the first place?

You could always live in PA, where you can't get hard liquor and (except for very recent developments) wine outside of state-run stores--which don't also sell beer mind you, actual beer distributors were only allowed to sell half/full cases up until a few months ago, restaurants with liquor licenses are only allowed to sell you two carry-out 6-packs at a time, and everything's more expensive than it needs to be! Oh, and there's still a tax on alcohol established to raise funds for disaster relief for a flood that happened in 1936.

I figure she's going to take on Jack's mantle once he finally returns to the past at the end of the series. If you assume an Ocarina-esque timeline split, Jack goes back and takes care of Aku originally, while Ashi cleans up after him in the future. -
Whatever you're trying to link doesn't seem to allow hotlinking.

Unless you count educational games like Reader Rabbit on a truly ancient IBM machine, it was probably the original Sonic the Hedgehog and a few others of that era on my cousins' Genesis. I spent a massive amount of time at our neighbors' house playing Super Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country on their SNES too. Sadly my parents never let us own a home console ourselves during the 16-bit golden years, since they figured it'd rot our brains or something. (Hell, they were probably right.) On the plus side, I did get in on some old-school PC gaming. My true first love will always be Descent, and I spent who knows how many hours being confused by Myst. -

How to eat healthy after post-wisdom teeth removal?
Top Gun replied to MrSanchez's topic in Foods & Drinks
Three months? Did you have some crazy complications or something? I think it only took a couple of weeks for me until the sockets were healed and I was able to eat whatever. -
