  16. Civ V didn't come into it's own until at least after the first expansion, and I think Civ 6 kind of has the same problem. Vanilla 6 isn't anywhere near as bland as vanilla V, but you can tell the game is not quite as fleshed out as it could be. Which brings us to the expansion coming out this week
  17. Why is this floated
  18. It's because "upstate" is completely meaningless without context ("up from where"), and a lot of people in the North Country give it a different context than it's average use. To clarify, take that map I posted and draw a horizontal line roughly a third of the way up the mid-hudson valley region, and that's the general average use for upstate/downstate.
  19. "Upstate" New York is a vague name that can indicate anything from north of NYC to north of the NYC "suburb" counties to north of the capital region (ie. Albany) basically based on the perspective and location of the person using the term. The closest thing to an official definition would be anything north of the MTA transit region, though certain areas at the ends of certain railroads may beg to differ. The state government actually divides the state regions up into ten unique sub-economies, which is a hell of a lot more specific and tangible than "upstate" and "downstate".
