the thing about cashless bail is that it isn't really about the bail, it's about when *pre-trial* detention is appropriate in a society where defendants are innocent until proven guilty. there are certain crimes where the defendant is a clear danger, like murder etc. but the point of cash bail is to address like flight risks. if you put $X000 down you're less likely to skip out because you want your money back. but it effectively creates an off-the-books crime of being too poor to afford bail. two-tiered justice and all that. so this is just yet another example of maga dipshits not caring about "law and order" and really only caring about "order".
