At first, it was distracting in P4 Arena since it was less subtle than the rest of the performances and sounded completely different from her PS2 voice. But the new voice is the closest to her original Japanese one and I would likely have less of a problem with it if it was the first Chie voice we were given. She was always meant to sound as energetic and high-pitched as the new Chie, but much of that was lost with the original English Chie. For frame of reference:

I’ve been trying to make Beyond meat work. It made a decent ground bulgogi, but there’s too much of a weird chemical smell to it that ends up getting into the meat taste at times. Curious about the Impossible Whopper, but I appreciate that Beyond is made from pea protein and not soy. If anything, the best meatless patty I’ve had is the pea protein one from Trader Joe’s, but that ones going more for making a veggie patty that doesn’t suck and not replicating the feeling or taste of beef so your mileage will vary on how worth it that one is.

But with Fire Emblem’s release this week, I can understand the sentiment behind not highly publicizing Chris’ appearance in the game until later down the line. It’d be hard to think about Male Byleth romancing the ladies without his VA’s temper tantrums, emotional manipulation, and disrespected boundaries in mind if his name is in everyone’s face. Additionally, Nintendo’s decision is more likely due to him breaking his NDA on being the voice of Byleth. The controversy on top of crossing Nintendo’s shooters when they’re notoriously no nonsense made it a perfect storm.
