MHA also has the benefit of having a built-in audience like Attack on Titan. The people that like the show will flock to it because they want to rewatch the show dubbed without a subscription, and the people that haven't seen it yet would have an easier time being pulled into it because its popularity is owed to being a competent shonen that can hold up by its own merits instead of being unwillingly forced on everyone like Black Clover.

Fixed it yet again

Yeah, it's been down since the weekend cause one of the hard drives that helped run the site crashed. It's been taking a while mostly cause of the process behind swapping out the bad drive and backing up data as well as those running the hardware aspect of the site having to set aside time to fix everything up. For the meantime, I've got drafts for Persona 5, Uma Musume, and Cutie Honey Universe on standby. There isn't an ETA yet though so I can see myself having to hold those aside as well as the upcoming ones for Comic Girls and this month's Today's Menu for Emiya Family. Hopefully they're able to patch things up cause it's fun to make posts on there, but it is alarming for it to cause the entire site to crash.

Vodka, Grass Wonder, Taiki Shuttle, and Gold Ship are a few of the many still around, but the surviving horses are the same age as Special Week while those that died were born a decade later. Even weirder is how many of the horses chosen are offspring of one another, so the student council president is the real life father of the pupil who idolizes her, and Gold Ship selects a frenemy who in real life is her grandpa.

The way I see it, it's alright unless they look too much like kids. Like Yoko from Gurren Lagann is younger than the Hero Academia cast, but she's got a 20 year old super model body. Or the JoJo guys that look like magazine models at middle school age. If they look old enough to be 18 or older, and are being flaunted for the assets they have, I don't have a moral issue with it. If they are more obviously lolis that are meant to be preteen or are lifelike kids, that's when I'm calling the police.

I didn't get around to making this earlier, but over the weekend, Special Week passed away. Or rather, the real life horse, Special Week. The horse-girls of Uma Musume are based on real life horses, some alive and some deceased, but Special Week was the horse selected to be the main character of this season's premiere horse-racing anime. Before Episode 06 came out though, the real horse Special Week was named after died of old age. From May 2nd, 1995 to last Friday, Special Week has made enough of a name to become an anime girl. He's been put out to pasture, but at least we have half a season of Uma Musume left to give him life beyond passing. Stay golden, Spe-chan.

For some reason, I think the hiatus made the show grow on me more. The storytelling has been really wonky with how reluctant they are to give us plot-relevant information up until just recently. Constantly seeing Ichigo pining for Hiro has negatively impacted the growth between Hiro and Zero Two, and the hopeless love triangle took attention away from the other pilots. I did overreact majorly after Episode 14, but I would have had an easier time understanding Ichigo’s side if she didn’t use separating the pair as a way to make moves on Hiro (the apple peeling and the infamous kiss in front of Goro). But with all the things that make me tear out my hair over their misdirection, I still see a lot of potential on the horizon with how we’re learning more about the plantations, the Klaxosaur, and the other pilots. There’s promise in the world they made based on how genuinely interesting the non-love triangle material has been. And then there’s how cute the Hiro and Zero Two stuff has come out with Episode 13 and 15 despite how much the two desperately need to work things out. Honestly, the 4koma spinoff is helping me not want to rage too hard on the series because of how cute the art is, and how the character relationships are portrayed (like the rap battle chapter). Again, I’m not in the position to say this is above Kill la Kill or LWA, but it’s been quite the ride and think the short break at this point in the series post-reunion helped me reflect on the show better. I can’t imagine how scorched earth it would’ve been if they did the hiatus an episode earlier .

HBO wouldn't need or want a show like Gundam unless it has titties, "fucks", or gore, all of which have never been a Gundam staple. It's not punchy enough in those regards to offer anything that HBO would want to broadcast. At most, American Live Action Gundam would work within the confines of a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu. Something that would take a chance on a space opera that is vanilla in every way except for exploding mechs and the lingering effects of war. Or SyFy if G-Savior is what they're looking into replicating.

Over the weekend I drank Kona Brewing Co’s Kanaha beer. It’s a pretty serviceable light beer with some tropical flair to it. I enjoy Big Wave from them so Kona is one of the few brands I’ll happily drink golder beers from as opposed to the stouts and porters I usually gravitate towards. Also had Sapporo Black which is amazing, but hard to find. Had to get it at a festival after my Total Wine stopped selling it. I also got the David Lynch Espresso Roast coffee over the weekend. Had it as black as midnight on a moonless night. Needless to say it was a damn good cup of coffee.

The story elements of the episode were far more fascinating and rewarding in Episode 15 with new details on the klaxosaurs, papa, and the expendable nature of the pilots and plantations. However, it also made the separation arc feel unneeded. Where it felt like they didn't know how to have Hiro and Zero Two talk with each other about their past or confess, so they had to create a scenario where Hiro had to apologize to Zero Two and promise to talk at some point instead of having Hiro hash out his feelings about Zero Two's "fodder" statement or Zero Two's regret for seeing him as fodder before realizing he's her original darling. It's very impactful and touching for the two to be able to confess, but it also feels unearned after the last episode's conclusion made it seem like it'd take more effort for the two to reconcile. Where the two really needed to face their own issues like the mixed signals Hiro gives off or Zero Two confronting the selfish side of her that was willing to throw away Hiro before finding out he was her darling. There was a little bit of that in their reconciliation, but only from the face value of how they called each other names. Not only did that feel rushed, but it also made the separation arc all the more of an insufferable decision with how poorly handled it was as a way of reframing their reconciliation as to place both of them at fault for things they should've realized and hashed out without Ichigo's interference. As for Ichigo, the decision to have her continue pursuing Hiro only to realize upon linking thoughts together that he only has eyes for Zero Two also felt like they wanted to rush a conclusion for the character arc she should've already had episodes back. Looking back on her actions in past episodes, it is sadly within her character to make rash decisions like force Zero Two out so that she can force Hiro to depend on her and subsequently confess out in the open while Goro watches. But it feels like they just wanted this crap to end when Goro forces Ichigo's hand in getting Hiro to see Zero Two and have an opportunity to look into Hiro's mind to see his lack of interest in anyone but Zero Two (how she was unable to see any of those thoughts during his erectile dysfunction in Episode 2 is a mystery). They doubled down too much on the teen drama, and now that they want to get serious about the plot, they have to backpedal on everything they kept feeding into as recently as last episode.
