Still Me Posted May 18 Posted May 18 when i was a kid my grandma used to make watergate salad....although when she made it she couldnt ever remember the name so we all called it green shit. 'grandma, are you gonna make green shit for the cookout?' but lately ive been seeing one called frog eye salad....im very interested in trying that Quote
The_annoying_one Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Ambrosia salad. This weird shit was served at most of my family gatherings as a kid, but I was never brave enough to try it, or even ask what’s in it. Just looking at it almost makes me sick. 1 Quote
The_annoying_one Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Yeah, that’s how I remember it. Pink and full of cherries. I couldn’t find a picture like that on Google, though. Quote

It's my step sister in law's - she calls it acini de pepe. It's made with acini pasta; I'm not sure if what your picture has is that or maybe medium tapioca. Quote
Still Me Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 watergate is pistachio pudding and whipped cream. Frog eye is like a pineapple base and whipped cream 1 Quote

Mix Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I guess I'm going to look up the word salad.....and probably pudding, while I'm at it. 1 Quote
Mix Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Ok, so apparently the definition of salad has expanded over the years to include basically everything. This explains how those salad restaurants stay in business. 2 Quote

GunStarHero Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I been eating more salads as of late, mostly making them myself. Made a smoked sausage salad with a spring mix and orange and honey dressing. Fantastic. Also had a cajun chicken remoulade salad today. Will have both again. Ambrosia is great but I have had such a hard time finding good ones out in the wild. I usually don't bother making my own anymore. Girlfriend's family makes a Watergate salad for the holidays. It's not bad. I also prefer Japanese potato salad to ones we usually see in the US. 1 Quote
