tsar4 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Wondering what JDV was really upset about... The fact that Zelensky's superior physique was not hidden by a suit? Or that Zelensky never introduced JD to the couch in Zelensky's office? 5 Quote

Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Elon Musk’s $1 Spending Limit Is Paralyzing Federal Agencies The DOGE-mandated credit card freeze is delaying shipments of critical supplies, stalling travel, and stopping employees from doing their jobs. So they keep claiming they're firing people that don't show up for work or aren't getting anything done, when they're going out of their way to throw up roadblocks like this to prevent them from doing just that. I mean, seriously?! There's just no level of treachery that's out of bounds anymore I guess. I keep thinking there's nothing they can do that will surprise me anymore, and yet day after day... Every time they say something horrific, they scream it with comical aggression. 3 Quote
1pooh4u Posted March 5 Posted March 5 So Trump started bitching at Dems because they aren’t applauding him for the things he didn’t do, like curing deadly diseases? Fuckin clown show 5 Quote
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Didn't watch any of it, but from the sounds of it he didn't just touch the third rail of social security, but took out a sharpie and drew a bright red target on it. I always expected them to go after Medicaid and maybe even Medicare to an extent, but Social Security I thought was still a bridge too far even for them. Not so sure about that anymore. 1 Quote

Master-Debater131 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Well that was fun! Easily one of the most entertaining SOTUs ever, and it was a good speech to. Trump came out with a clear goal of projecting his ideas to the American people, celebrating whats happened so far, and making the Democrats look completely out of touch. And he nailed all three points. He clearly stated that no matter what he did or said, Democrats would refuse to cheer. And boy did they prove him right. From the hilarious antics of Old Man Green imitating Abe Simpson yelling at clouds, to refusing to cheer for a 95 year old woman getting her son home from being a Russian hostage, to the West Point bit, and even to the kid with cancer. They just sat there like petulant children who arent getting their way. Its truly something watching a party become so consumed with hate that all they can do is sneer at extremely heartwarming moments. Refusing to cheer for a survivor of childhood cancer sure is a choice. Democrats have completely lost the plot, and it showed again last night. Trumps speech was viewed very positively according to CNN and CBS instant polls. Large majorities said it was Presidential, Entertaining, Inspiring, and Unifying. It made most people Hopeful and Proud as well. It was, by all accounts, a very good speech. Unless your a Democrat. But even then, their own antics are going to shoot down any chance at going after some obvious weak points in the speech. Trump just keeps on winning. Democrats better have a serious course correction soon or they may wind up even further in the political wilderness than they already are. 1 1 Quote

To me I see this as the difference between a group that has those that act upon what they individually believe is the best thing to do, and one that all receives their marching orders from the same place, reads from the same script, and repeats the same talking points ad nauseum like a bunch of mindless stormtroopers for fear of falling out of step with the group and being drummed out. Would it have been better optics for the other democrats to back him up and all walk out together? Of course, but would it really make any difference in the grand scheme of things? Would it really change a single person's mind? C'mon. Democrats are disorganized by nature, and realistically no matter what they do in congress it's not gonna change anything. Any real resistance that has the chance to stop any of what's been going on is going to have to come from the public ultimately. 2 Quote

What motivation does the public have to rally if their elected leaders can't demonstrate any capability? And, more importantly, what motivation do the voters have to keep electing them if they can't at least try to act like they're trying? Whether or not anything gets done is almost irrelevant. They really, really need to show their base that they're not just the "bend over and take it" party. Because right now, the message they're sending is "why bother voting for anybody?" 2 1 Quote

There is nothing Democrats should have done at the SOTU except maybe walking out, and nothing they could do would have served any purpose served any purpose. That being said, they can and should do something by obstructing government operations. They should not vote for any budgets. They should not vote for any of his nominees (FUCK YOU FETTERMAN). They should not attend any special sessions. They should openly refute any and all of his policies. I don't take this statement lightly, but not participating in his schemes is the only way for anything to happen. 2 1 Quote
