Trump expected to sign executive orders to reshape the military, including banning transgender troops

oh boy. if you know ANYONE thinking about military service, ESPECIALLY women, talk them out of it.

That's all I've been hearing about - don't bother joining up regardless of what's in your pants because you are going to be treated like shit by actual shit.

This is not the look you want or need for what is basically a volunteer military. Watch as he decides that North Korea has very good idea and drafts all males [ except of course the rich ones with bone spurs ] for mandatory military service. Without pay. Its a 'meritocracy' after all, you have to earn it.

About the federal freeze, I saw an article in the Washington Post that claimed a memo we t out stating the EO shouldn’t be construed to impact SS or Medicare or funding given to individuals. Now does this mean people on Medicaid food stamps rental assistance and stuff like WIC and Ryan White are safe?  Idk. I know if not I have no insurance anymore. A lot of people are going to be pissed, like landlords who won’t get their rent paid. Hopefully Congress or the courts stop this because it’s illegal

Numerous states are suing to stop it since it blatantly violates several laws.

At this point I’m pretty sure the voters get off on the cruelty.

I honestly do not know how anyone can blame democrats for Trump's presidency when he's had a well documented history of doing exactly what he says he will do with as little thought as the ideas themselves entail.  This roll out is the perfect example of the kind of chaos he typically creates in his quest to honor campaign promises he makes but no one actually asked for or wanted.

I hated Carlin in his grandpa years.  I worry I hated him because he was right and knew we were fucked.

I had this realization when in a Discord conversation that MAGATs have pulled off a brilliant long con over the past decade-plus. They spouted off all sorts of threats and batshit insanity over things that were not physically happening and in fact could not happen, and they got called out for it as such. Now the positions are flipped, we're calling out the actual existential threats happening right now, and they get to sit back and say "Well you called us crazy for years, so you must be crazy too!"

...well I'd say it was brilliant, but most of the dumb bastards probably fell ass-backwards into it. I'm sure there were a few evil genius motherfuckers behind the scenes though.

I really hope some Republican Congressmen grow a pair and start the process of impeachment with Democrats. Vance is a POS but I don't think he'd be anywhere near as chaotic as this.

The sheer cult of personality would never allow it.

Trump administration backs off their pause with clarifications

Social security, Medicare, Food Stamps, Medicaid, student loans and grants are not impacted.  It doesn’t mention rental assistance but maybe since it’s paid directly to the landlords, in the name of the renters, it will fall under direct to individuals assistance?

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what they claim won't be taken away since destroying all the social safety nets has been a wet dream of so-called 'conservatives' since Reagan. If this EO is the one that speeds things along, they won't care - they'll just claim things 'are tied up' and 'not our fault'.

Idk probably.  this is coming from the “children getting fed in public schools are sucking off the government teat” party

Yeah, we have that in abundance here.

There was a bill to fund school meals for little kids fully - all kids. The super majority of asshats whined and cried about how it shouldn't be the government's responsibility to feed these kids when their parents should be doing that. They then, without a hint of irony, voted to give themselves an increase in their own per diem meal reimbursements because grown adults with government jobs need the government to feed them and can't brownbag it.

They don’t even see the hypocrisy.

so, 'they' shut down all medicaid/hhs portals in all states. they caused confustion and angst and set the stage for taxation without representation. damn...

The Trump administration plan plunged the U.S. government — and states and organizations that rely on federal funding — into panic and confusion and set the stage for a constitutional clash over control of taxpayer money.

lol you posted the same article I did

Professor Heather Cox Richardson discussing Trump’s unprecedented power grab from the legislative branch

He's like a gremlin in a control room pushing all the buttons he can find right now, trying to figure out which are the ones that will make stuff go boom. I'm sure he's aware a number of these actions are gonna be short circuited by the courts, but I don't think he cares. He's just looking to push the boundaries of what people and the system will let him get away with. Even when he's stymied, it just desensitizes people and gets them used to or prepared for the idea of whatever norm he's trying to break being broken, until folks just stop caring and merely shrug when he finally destroys all the things the country used to stand for. Bunch of morons.

Easy as it would be to put all this on him, gotta remember none of it would be possible without all the enablers who are too gutless to stand up to any of this nonstop torrent of insanity, which you just know if Biden or any other Democratic party president had done the same they'd all be screaming bloody damn murder about it while frantically pulling out and pointing to their little pocket Constitutions. Funny now, instead all we hear is just crickets.

Trump guts businesses and runs with the money. This is just the big heist. I'm not gonna get on a soapbox about it but I think it's best of I just tuned out for the next four years because it's just going to be a lot of me going.

This morning I saw a Bald Eagle dead on the highway. I wish I had been quick enough to get a pic because it was like an omen.

a couple mornings, i saw a bald eagle scavenging a dead carcass, then it flew in front of me onto a tree.

fun fact: ben franklin thought the turkey was more respectable. , becuase eagles are scavengers.

Yeah he wanted the turkey as the state bird. Eagles aren’t only scavengers though Ben Franklin was pretty dumb for a smart guy

It’s more respectable on a dinner table, but I see where he’s coming from.

Today is the one I’ve REALLY been dreading.  RFK JR’s hearing.  The children he killed in Guam with his anti-vaccine crusade should be reason enough to disqualify him, but he’s got a lot of sycophants ready to kill us all.

This might be another reason some people I know are heading to England for career stuff.

In a sane world, Caroline Kennedy's statement that she put out yesterday would be a death knell for him, but he's just gaslighting congress about all his anti-vaccine statements so far. Pretty clear he's just gonna pretend none of it ever happened or he was somehow misinterpreted over and over and over again. Sadly, that's probably all he really needs to do... is just give them enough of narrative so they can hide behind it while they hold their noses and vote him through, same as Hegseth.
