The bad news I have the equipment but I can't activate it due to a cable problem I'm guessing they have remove the crap leftover from WoW so I have a technician coming Wednesday. This story really needs to end. I like how your cable provider was World of Warcraft. 1 Quote
The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted Thursday at 11:31 PM Posted Thursday at 11:31 PM (edited) I actually learned part of my distrust for management way back when I worked at McDonald's. The policy stated one free meal for an eight hour shift. It excluded milk. Sodas only. I asked a manager why milk was excluded. He said, "The American Dairy Association doesn't allow it." Now, what's wrong with that picture? I was only seventeen and knew what was wrong with it. Edited Thursday at 11:32 PM by The Evil Dr. Longshadow Quote

Did they have apple slices too? Only in what they called a "Hot Apple Pie", which at that time was brought in frozen and kept frozen until it was deep fried to some preposterously high temperature. And yes, milk is still served at McDonald's today... low fat milk. Sure, as though the "low fat" part is going to make a difference to a customer who just ate five Quarter Pounders and four large orders of fries. I went looking for the old 1980's American Dairy Association radio jingle that chirped out, "Milk's the soft soft drink. It doesn't shout about its flavor, always on its best behavior with the foods you want to savor..." Somehow, that was skipped over on Youtube in favor of better known TV spots such as, "Got milk?" and "Milk does a body good." Yes, the radio jingle I'm talking about said, "soft" twice. That's not a typo. 1 Quote
The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted Friday at 12:36 AM Posted Friday at 12:36 AM In other news, a vacated strip club in Atlantic City has been appraised at only $400k, which is peanuts for anybody who is really serious about buying commercial properties here. Delilah's Den. Yes, the same one that had private busses picking up patrons from all the casinos. 1 Quote
The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted Friday at 01:55 AM Posted Friday at 01:55 AM (edited) Wow... Since I'm a resident of New Jersey, I'm required by state law to be enrolled in a health insurance plan AND my current income disqualifies me from any government funded health insurance, I am not only required to purchase a plan from a private insurer, I am ALSO required to budget and lay aside the money that pays the premium. So, budgeting is what I do. Not budgeting? No insurance. No insurance? Not in compliance. Not in compliance? Not following requirements. Cause and effect, folks. You'll never see one without the other. Edited Friday at 04:26 AM by The Evil Dr. Longshadow 1 Quote
The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted Friday at 02:33 AM Posted Friday at 02:33 AM (edited) Hmm... Now, let me get this straight. A few members of Congress have just introduced a controversial bill. Regardless of whether or not the bill is passed in both houses of Congress, Trump is already planning to veto it. Congress does not have the two thirds majority required to override the veto. So, is there any point at all to even mentioning the bill, let alone drafting it and introducing it for a vote? Or, is this nothing but some posturing and virtue signalling to a particular voting block for the mid terms and a lame attempt at onboarding a few extra people who are not actually in that voting block? The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted Friday at 04:32 AM Posted Friday at 04:32 AM (edited) Is photographing a person who is turned away from the camera with no part of the face or any other specific identifiers showing and then posting the photo here still "doxing" that person? BTW, I'm not actually going to post it here because whatever you say about it could differ from what a mod or amin might think of it. Quote

The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I'm probably the "odd man out" in here, partly because I appear to be the only one who shows any enthusiasm for hot weather. Notice that my cover was blown the in the very same minute that I expressed that enthusiasm and some bum decided to respond with the same, tired old meme that he's been using since Barnum met Bailey. Of course, If most of you in here prefer living in antarctic conditions, you should all just pack up your crap and go colonize that shit hole continent. Start your own nation there, even. You could have a Constitution that prohibits everything that produces carbon dioxide under panalty of death. Don't worry, it's not going melt for another three or four million years. It's just very sick and sad to see so many whining crybabies in one place who can't sleep in the summer time without turning their air conditioners down to forty seven degrees... when it's only a few decimals above seventy two outside. 1 2 Quote

Your money could go very far in India, especially the slums. It's a walker-friendly society with public transportation everywhere. And the weather gets to 47 degrees CELSIUS in some places. You used foreign language as an excuse not to visit Japan, but so many Indians speak English. What are you waiting for? 1 Quote

If you think the stuff I write in here is wild and unbelievable, you should see this fiction sheet I just scribbled up. Of course, it won't go anywhere at least until I hand it in for a critique from somebody who actually knows the game. He'll either forward it or tell me I'm full of soup. Anyway, this might actually be more fun if I let some Ai compound the script and try to make it all seem a bit more mysterious. Make it a good cliff hanger, even. 1 Quote

Mode 7 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I finally have Internet again after two months of fighting with two different cable companies. Wi-Fi finally got activated this morning so tomorrow for the first time in weeks I'm going to have a day off where I'm not talking agents, setting appointments, and having goofy technicians coming to my apartment. I finally get to do the one thing I love doing on my days off which I haven't done in weeks and that's taking an afternoon nap. 3 Quote
