God damn snow plow

That fucking blows.. I witnessed a police cruiser (SUV type) fail to brake, and slam into the back of the truck in front of it hard enough to need to be loaded on a wrecker afterwards at work.. Probably because the officer was too busy with his computer or radio shit to notice the traffic light change. I was wondering how that worked out for the other guy. The cop hit him going probably 40-45ish. 🤨

Well, file the claim with your insurance and use "uninsured motorist" if you have it (you should).

Make sure the body shop repaints the whole panel, or you will see the touch up.

Sucks man, hope it works out for you.

Also, get your lawn chairs out.

Hmmm, never heard of that angle with insurance, tho I don't think I've had a claim in 10+ years

Hmm.. Yeah I don't pay for full coverage with my truck... actually though the only insurance claim I had to file recently with it.. Well when I worked at a gas station some kid backed into my truck with his older sisters rice burner.. Honda..what have you probably civic right idk.. Anyway I got a payout for that..I even met with his sister and felt bad for her, but I was like...idk my fuckin' truck! at the time, and I've had feels get in the way of insurance shit getting done before..so I had to tell her no bueno you know..I got estimates and was just like...the estimates arent cheap so unless you got a fast and furious shop that's gonnna do this for me I'm sorry..

Her little brother was driving the car without a license so... I mean I don't think he got busted for that at least the little punk.. I didn't file a police report, but  idk if the insurance peeps alerted anyone he was driving without a license.. Anyway best of luck Sawds. Stick it to the city man.

Well, if the town won't fess up, then the police report should be a hit and run and you should be able to tell your insurance carrier that you can't identify the at fault party, so your uninsured motorist coverage should kick in. It might reduce your deductible, or limit the amount of increase on your premiums since it isn't "your fault" the claim was filed. You are still going to have a premium increase because the claim was filed, but it might be less than usual.

Unless you have State Farm, then yer rekt.

I wanna say “This is what you get for being an asshole,” but that’s not appropriate here.

The city fucked up in a big way and should be paying for this shit. Do you have like Ring cameras or anything on your place that caught it?

I have Arlo cameras all around the house but because of so much snow, 26 inches in total, I parked on the side street so they could plow... I guess they plowed... anyways my cameras don't catch that far and the neighbor who has the house it was parked in front of is a bag of dicks

Well.....I guess....

You know what? I’m not going to bother saying anything, since this is not your fault or anything.

Thanks?

You’re welcome.

I assumed you wouldn’t intentionally damage your car. I just understand that this isn’t your fault, because you can’t control the weather. I also know that something out of your control happened, and you got screwed because of it. I assume that is the truth of the matter.

I COULD’VE been a major asshole to you and told you that it was your fault for parking in the street in the first place (instead of in your driveway), but I didn’t. Because I understood that you parked on the side street to let them plow, but wound up taking damage because of it. That was an unintended result. Instead of blaming you and calling you a dumbass piece of shit who should’ve known better, I decided to be a decent person, leveling with the fact that it was not your intention to have your car get damaged. I felt for the fact that you had to deal with extra BS from something that you didn’t do. I do understand that sometimes, it’s just hard enough being you in the day, and getting kicked while you’re down is pretty fucking shitty.

So, yes. You’re welcome.

Did he just ask for a pat on the back for not being an unreasonable jackass?

No. I was telling you that I could’ve been, but didn’t because I assumed he wasn’t intentionally trying to fuck his own car up.

It's like .... Does the city want to pay a few thousand to fix a car, or a few tens of thousands to fix a car, plus pay the legal fees of both their counsel and yours, when their asses get sued for hit-and-run, and also a little added cash for lost time and emotional distress.

Those things are needlessly expensive for comparatively little damage they sustain.

tell me about it... I went to O’Reillys to see if they could order me the part, come to find out the only place you can buy the part is through Kia... that means a $30 part it’s gonna cost me $80... assuming the inner mechanics aren’t broken and if they are the whole mirror hook up it’s going to cost me 700

Next time just park it about 6" over the curb. It's a Jeep, after all.

(also my phone camera was apparently foggy when I took this)

A lifted Jeep at that.

I lifted my T-Hawk an 1" by changing to Dobinson's springs.  I could go with the spacers and get another 2".  That's all you can really get on a KL.  Mostly it's enough to get bigger tires on it.

Yeah, it sucks.  Might want to try an auto salvage or a junk yard.  If you're handy, you can maybe even install it yourself.

Yeah I’m pretty savvy when it comes to stuff like that. My bosses dad is a mechanic so he’s gonna check with his dad to see if he can find the part for me and I’ll pay him cost essentially of him pulling the item.

Yeah but have you seen stock KL Trailhawk's perform off-road? They can hold their own pretty well. It's actually impressive.

Some day someone will develop some dropped control arms and stuff to really allow at least a 4" lift. I can see it being possible, but i can't see anything more than that being possible without a *lot* of driveline changes needed. They do look pretty nice lifted though, especially the facelifted ones.

I think it's always going to be too cost prohibitive for production aftermarket control arms because of the unique geometry of the KL.  A custom shop might do it for a one off, but it'll be a perpetual engineering work in progress just to keep the balance between road civility and off road  capability.

But you're right.  The KL is an exceptional off road vehicle as long as you know how to off road.  Changing to the Dobinson's helped with the approach angle.
