Still Me
I have piriformis syndrome, which basically is a muscle in my buttock that will spasm and irritate the sciatic nerve. It causes pain and pressure down the right side of my lower back and shooting pains down my right leg. So I’ve been going to the chiropractor to treat it because I’m currently dealing with a flare since Tuesday. So anyways, first visit was great. The guy was finding alternative ways to stretch the muscles and move the nerves around to that I wasn’t in too much pain. the second visit I get this girl that essentially just cracks my upper spine, pokes my sore irritated lower back, does nothing with it and emails me exercises. but today....today was the fucking worst. I get another guy and I start telling him my concerns and how I was dissatisfied with the lack of treatment the previous time. And he proceeded to press his whole fucking weight on top of the flaring muscle in my buttock. And he keeps doing at as I’m flailing and wiggling away from him. He stops to tell me to stop moving away from him and keeps fucking pressing on it as hard as he can. The pain was so intense that I’m struggling to breathe and I’m crying into the bed. Then finally I manage to scream out, “am I being tortured here?!” And he says no and keeps fucking doing it. When he finally sits me up he notices now that I’ve been sobbing into the head rest. Then apologizes for not knowing I was in that much pain. DUDE....I was moving away, screaming and flailing...don’t fucking tell me you didn’t know. I sat in my car and cried for 20 minutes as the shooting pain in my back and leg continued to worsen. then I got a pedicure cause it’s the only place I knew that had massage chairs

They tend to be more physical. Find someone from Logan or National. You might also try to find one that also does acupuncture with electro-stim. bnmjy
Chiropractic is a load of horseshit. What do you call alternative medicine proven to work? Medicine. In other words, percocet time.
PhilosipherStoned
Yeah I don't trust chiroprctors. For starters there's a lot out there that believe some pretty batty shit with no foundation in science and shouldn't be able to hold a license. Then there's just that wtf feeling I get just from watching reasonable and honest chiropractors doing that shit to someone else.
scoobdog
Did you like go to a practice that had like three different chiropractors or did you go to three different practices? The dude that was my chiropractor retired this year and I haven't seen who took over for him yet.

Sieg67
Sounds like a real pain in the ass. I've also heard of chiropractors being ineffective. Basically a scam.

My point is that if so many of these people can get by making false claims and often times try to branch out into medical fields a freaking back cracker is going to know nothing about.. I might as well let homegirl go to town with her '100 percent success'-- "Just let me walk and jump up and down on your back for a bit method" rather than go through the hassle of booking an appointment and being billed medical professional rates just to get more or less the same thing done. Are there honest chiropractors out there..Sure. I feel like they're pretty hard to pick out of the rift raft these days. Especially if they're comfortable with just the title of 'chiropractor'

Especially if they're comfortable with just the title of 'chiropractor' If you're saying that they aren't claiming to be a "Doctor of Chiropractic", then I'd agree. But as someone who checked into becoming one when I was deciding what to do with my life, the amount of classwork & training between a MD and a DC is comparable. If I'd have been better at Organic Chem, I might have gone for it. BTW - my last and current PCPs both go to their own Chiropractor.

I've been seen by chiropractors with just their DC and then found one that just started out with a DC and felt the need to expand that also expanding their practice into a certified spinal rehibilitation clinic with MD studies, and the difference was night and day.. Well I mean this guy.. The MD +DC was pretty much afraid to touch my back let alone do that insane cracking crap.. He laid out an exercise program (physical therapy) that overtime significantly improved the state of my back and the ability of my spine to properly do it's job. He also went over all the little spinal pieces that were screwed up by formal name and recommended less...fucking shock inducing practices (decompression techniques etc)... The only thing a chiropractor has ever done for me is pop my kneck/back and ask me if I feel better. The only thing a DC ever did for my father was keep him upright with degenerative disc disease...when Doctors at the time advocated fusing vertebrae (which would have been continually needed as each disc failed). The only thing a DC ever did for me was keep me able to attend college classes (though he advised that I stay off my feet for 2 weeks) when I herniated a disc, and get me back up when it goes out (usually once a year) and help me with my adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) where I couldn't raise my right arm or reach for anything without pain. I told my PCP about what the DC was doing with my shoulder & he provided me with instructions for the same exercises my DC did. Chiropractic has worked for me. It's the equivalent of cracking my knuckles when my fingers need it, with the only difference being that the feeling of relief when my back goes into place is nirvana.

Yeah there's some good shit there disregard the react I'll just change it to a like this post isn't sad.. Agreed. It's easy to pop your own knuckles, but popping your own back has gotta be a godlike talent..I understand. I have scoliosis that's resulted in herniated discs and all kinds of shit that MD described, but fucking steriod shots, and a 6 foot tall army beast of a chiropractor failed to be able to do the same for me a few too many times. If you find it works for you and your chiropractor's.. not a wingnut at least give them your business. I said as much already.
