So I told y'all back on Node I was gonna die....Blah, blah, sarcoid, blah blah, it's taken some greats from us, blah, blah feel sorry for me......Anyway, I finally got in with the only Pulmonary care specialist in my immediate vicinity (hour trip to anyone else, but I'm going to take it after seeing this quack) and this fucker didn't run any tests....At least not today, but he felt comfortable with telling me that most pulmonary issues, despite having any evidence to back this up, is cause by my intake of meat.

Now of course he's fucking East Indian, and these assholes are notorious for trying to make life less awesome, but when I asked him what did he base the correlation of my meat intake to my illness from he replies with some hippy, homeopathic bullshit......Dude, you're my doctor....I need facts here.....You can't just give me baseless claims and think that white coat makes you right.

So he emails me a bunch of vegan meal plans and says this will take care of my affliction.......We'll do testing next week, but for now, don't eat meat.

Dude, fuck you....I need an old ass country white dude doctor that throws drugs at me....This dude is fucking fired.

I've heard plenty of stuff about how consuming red meat can cause build up in your arteries, but no decent doctor is going to tell say shit like going vegan will cure things.  That alone is enough to dump him and find someone who knows what the fuck he's talking about.

thats the right thing to do. unfortunately, he didn't give you enough information to help support his claim, so why should you feel comfortable taking his advice? what it all boils down to is this, if you feel like its not right, its always important to seek another opinion. whether or not he is right in the end, it never hurts and you'll never feel good about it until you know for sure. i've been poopoo'd by doctors for multiple things that wound up actually being something once i sought out someone else.

Why not just eat less meat, ie some days don't eat any, until you see what the tests next week say? I'm not a doctor but he's probably right about what he's telling you. Like just bc he's Indian I don't think he's telling you to eat less meat bc he wants you to subscribe to his morality. Eating meat to the degree most people in America, especially you, do is bad for your health... That's just a fact.

I'm with Buddy on this, and not because I think he should be eating red meat.  He's very clearly making a diagnosis based solely on superficial and incomplete information - whether or not he's right about the diagnosis, he's clearly wrong about how he came to that diagnosis.  Also, he's not asking Buddy to take out red meat, he's asking him to be a vegan, which is a fairly extreme diet change with no real justification.

"the doctor said usually when someone has the health problems I'm having it's because I smoke cigarettes, so he told me to stop smoking and we'll run tests next week. Can you believe this guy? I know smoking is bad for me, but he doesn't know that has anything to do with my problems yet"

Did you just compare eating red meat with smoking?  Lol

But seriously, though, even in that example you left out something that his doctor said that no doctor ever would "Do [this] and it will take care of your affliction."  No doctor would ever even guess at a cause for a condition without doing a full work up or having a previously done work up in front of him/her.  I'm pretty sure Buddy would be more open to not eating meat if it ordered to if the reason was more pragmatic, such as a requirement for an accurate test or even as a test itself to see if it has an effect.

Man f that guy. No way I'd stop eating meat or drinking beer, even if they told me I'd die the next day. You just gotta use your will power, I'm trying to will myself to live to at least 500 years old.

Here's the worst part. My issues are almost certainly going to end me within the next 20 years, but the evil inside you is going to keep you alive for a long time. Evil motherfuckers don't die young unless they kill themselves to avoid a prison sentence. It's infuriating.

Than your only option is to turn evil Skiles. Ww3 is coming and the country will soon be Great Again (not) no better time than now

For the sake of this thread "red" meat never came up.....He said to cut meat completely....Never specified which meats....Just said I shouldn't eat it......I can't just say he's right and I should do that......I know a few dead vegans........Was it their diet?...... don't know....But being vegan doesn't guarantee longevity as far as I know.

Smoking is proven to cause health problems...."red" meat is on the bubble.....I have very few aged vegans in my family, and while some have dropped off at 40, Aunt lo is 96 and still gumming steak.....I see nothing to support a complete abandonment of meat......If he manages to provide evidence, I may reconsider but I'm not basing my decision on his ocular observance of me and your sudden crusade.

i think that whether or not a vegan diet vs vegetarian vs well balanced vs a heavy meat diet is healthy for an individual, is entirely up to that individuals body because we don't all require the exact same things.
