Worst computer virus experience?

When I was like 11 I had my first fat desktop computer with internet access. I really wanted to download an emulator, but I had no idea what I was doing so I ended up downloading a bunch of shit that I shouldn't have. I ended up with so much malware that even when I wasn't connected to the internet I heard advertisements for dish soap and shit. I also had a shit ton of pop ups. And I kept clicking on the ones that said they'd clean my computer cause I was freaking the fuck out. I was worried my mom would see all the porn I'd been looking up. All I ended up doing was making it worse. Eventually, the computer was fixed and I jerked off to chicks in guitar magazines like a peasent.

I downloaded Half-Life or Half-Life 2 when I was 17 from a warez site and the person that uploaded it was kind enough to include a boot virus. It destroyed the OS but luckily that was all.

Edit: It was actually a pretty stylish virus too. I got five minutes into the game and then things got weird and a voice said, "This is what you wanted."

I learned early how to distinguish what and what not to click and DL long ago.....I can't seem to get my kids to follow suit though....They will click anything.

Though when I first started pirating, I did use a client's already malware bogged computer to "test some shit out"

Ransomware

Someone hack mom's email adress and locked her out. Then a message comes up stating to call "microsoft virus team and have credit card ready".

Mom almost fell for it, thankfully I was watching the whole thing.

I basically killed a family computer during puberty by clicking the wrong porn links. Every couple minutes you would see some boobies, which sounds much cooler in theory than in practice.

Well yeah, especially if you're trying to do homework or game or something with your parents in the room. :D

I would say I've had three worst virus experiences, all bad for different reasons.

1. Some error would constantly pop-up on my screen. I closed the pop-up and another would come in its place. I literally could not do anything with my computer. And disconnecting from the Internet didn't help either.

2. Once I got this virus that randomly replaced legit banner ads on legit sites (this happened to me on ASMB constantly at the time I had this virus) with a REALLY annoying iPhone or iPod or whatever banner ad that would fucking TALK.

3. One time I was using a p2p program (can't remember which, and no, it wasn't Limewire), I was looking for porn. I downloaded what I thought was a pic of one of my favorite adult models of the time. I open it, it was actually a script that converted every single jpg on my hard drive to some weird format that wouldn't open. I don't think it affected my computer as a whole particularly negatively, but it did wipe out almost my entire porn collection (back in those days it was all about the pics, because vids were hard to download).

worst experience? not sure i used to fix everyones computer viruses all the time and the worst part about those were that they were old computers. all were pentiums 4 which always made them such a pain just to do anything with. but the fixes became easy. the real bad ones i just reformatted the hard drives. had a few where the virus survived reformatting.

We had some shitty cheap anti-virus program that ended up getting infiltrated by a virus, to the point where the anti-virus program would behave like a virus itself.  Trying to remove it was an ordeal, and we had several computers in the house that were using that antivirus at the time.  I think it was called "panda" something.  I can't remember if factory settings worked to get rid of it, but I remember trying to uninstall it not working, straight up deleting it didn't work, trying to use a different antivirus to quarantine and delete it didn't work.

Worst part is I don't think it even came from porn, this was back in the AOL days, so shit was rife everywhere.

The second worst was after a year of having my own computer, my parents' computer was infected by a ton of viruses, and it took a whole day to clean that sucker. I was so annoyed that I lectured them about proper computer surfing for like an hour.

The number one worst was pretty much DMA's #1 plus I couldn't start the computer in safe mode, and I don't think it would let me do a system restore either. This was two years after I cleaned off all the viruses so I was super annoyed that they ignored my advice and totally borked their computer. I wasn't spending all day to fix that shit again, so I told them to take it to the shop.

I remember the script virus that turned my porn stash to useless txt files, the worst part was I didn't download the damned thing, it was my sister looking for pirated music.
