I think its from not working since last Wednesday

What kinda accent you got?

Very New York. Brooklyn mostly. As soon as I open my mouth I’m pegged as a NYer. I sound like an idiot, cartoon character:ph34r:

I saw a stand up on TV once, he goes, "I'm from Brooklyn, New York... which you could tell immediately from my atrocious accent."

Lol, that’s me a 100%. xD

When I was a kid my family was driving down to New Orleans and my mom said to me, “Don’t talk. They’ll know we’re Yankees!”xD

I kinda hope you took that to heart and remained completely silent until your drive home. xD

I did for a day or two and then my parents told me they were kidding. We were in Alabama in some diner and they had a pic of the Brooklyn Bridge on the wall.  The waitress knew right away we were from NY and asked us, “Have y’all ever seen that bridge?”

in college I was told by an Australian student that she loved my accent. I looked at her sideways cuz lol, for real? xD

Well, if you ever feel that you need a fresh start in life... Australia is the place to be! :D

Lol.  I'm jealous of Pooh"s accent.

Californians don't have a particularly distinct accent, at least not in English.  Mesoamerican Spanish (our other native tongue) influences our vowels and some short consonants, but that can disappear quickly depending on who we are talking with.

No.  Spanish words and phrases are used extensively for place names, food staples, and idioms, as occasionally are words from the Mesoamerican languages in historical contexts.  Most of us born here learn to use the pronunciation automatically, and without having become fluent.  But I am proficient enough to read and understand the more common phrases.

All the women here talk like valley girls, which is not noticeable to people that were born here. It's hilarious. Like when you see a Samoan chick or some other girl that you wouldn't expect that voice from... it's hilarious every time. There are plenty of surfer bros here but not enough that I would say it's common. The dudebro thing can be entertaining to an extent.

Surprisingly enough, I hear it too.  In fact, I just got off the phone with someone who's my age at least who speaks that way.  It totally throws off my perception of the person since I often rely on voice to give me some idea who the person is before I actually meet them.

I didn't remember hearing an accent when I was in California, but that was a long time ago.

Some places in the country you visit and you're like, "Damn, what did you say?" and others it's not so obvious.

As far as NY goes you will hear different accents depending on the borough, especially the Bronx where the accent has a latin flair

Accents depend a lot on the dominant historic foreign accent or language of the region.  I like cracking on Cardi B because she's so terrible as rapper, but she's also emblematic of how an accent derives out of a foreign language.

Well, Cardi B's last name is Almanzar, she's got at least one Latino parent, but even people with no latino blood in The Bronx sound like her but to a lesser degree.

Sometimes an accent adjust because of the melding of foreign words into the English language.  Sometimes it's an adaptation of a foreign accent, which seems to be the case in the Bronx.  In a lot of cases, the accent is influenced to a certain degree by both.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if Angelenos all sounded like they were straight out of an episode of Zorro.
