The show is on right now. It wouldn't be so bad if the subtitles weren't delayed. What did DeMarco do? Rip this episode from Crunchyroll's media player?

To make matters worse, my DVR cut off from recording it all thanks to this April Fool's Prank.>:(

Hmm, they're not really delayed on my end

Joseph knows a thing or two about running away lol.

Mariah doesn't mind the older guys haha.

Well they tricked her.  Didn't think that through did she!

Nice to see a show not shy away from killing a woman.  Eh?  She's still alive?  Still, that was pretty brutal!

Uh-oh, shadow power!

And at its regularly scheduled time! Airing it at an odd time was why my DVR cut off.

I watched it live.  But if I were DVR-ing I'd set it to record a block of time manually, knowing they'd do something tonight, just for that reason.

I'm sure the episode will replay next week dubbed at its normal time, though.

Subtitles weren't delayed for me.  Sure you weren't just misinterpreting things?

I fucking hope so. Talk about wasting people's time.

I would think Demarco would have the sense to do that.  Having it subbed tonight was just for fun.  It will also shut up all those weebs that begged ASA and Toonami to air subs for years. xD

At least it was anime, and not the same Rick and Morty episode over and over, or The Room, or something.

What will Adult Swim air next April Fool's? A Hamtaro Marathon?

(Pacific time)  Just watched FLCL.  I wasn't really expecting much since it didn't need a reboot, but this was beyond disappointing.  How did they manage to make FLCL boring?  OO

I enjoyed the action scene for what it was. I didn't pay much attention to the dialog in the beginning though!

Yeah, "Someday" was released in the early '90s, if memory serves me right. That was before Mariah Carey completely changed her image and became an extreme diva.

*Coughs with 90's R&B nerd authority and pushed back glasses* She wasn't an extreme diva until mid 2000's. The 90's makeover happened because she finally felt enough confidence to break away from her controlling manager and ditch the good girl routine. *Goes back to reading the rest of the thread bitterly because I slept through the night*

Kinda thought the same. But I'm willing to give it a chance. They know what they have to live up to. Unless this is supposed to be another 6 episode "season," I'll trust that this is just them knowing they'll have to pace themselves a little differently.

At least they're still using the pillows for the soundtrack.

It's not FLCL that has the problem.

It's you.

I didn't think it was too bad.  Sure, it wasn't like the first FLCL, but it's rare that a sequel can live up to the hype of the original.  If people were expecting this to be exactly like FLCL then they deserved to be disappointed.

If that makes sense I guess lol.  My point is that I liked it, and at the end of the day it's my opinion that matters to me the most.

But I still feel like FLCL being revived is everything I was worried about.

look

none of us are saying FLCL 2 is just as good or better as the original

we all knew it wouldn't be

what we're saying is we enjoy it for what it is

we had fun watching it because it was decent, and it was more FLCL, it's good, not perfect, not better than the original. but good

it doesn't have to surpass the original to be good

so I repeat,

Basically, if you like FLCL but wished the original premise had some CGDCT elemeents, this might be the show for you... but it probably will seem derivative to some. I at least enjoyed the first episode.

And remember it seems like FLCL Progressive in September WON'T have elements of CGDCT!  So it's not all that.

But Progressive's actually in June. Alternative's what's coming in September.

Can someone for the finale time PLEASE get it straight to me which one is coming out when?? I get conflicting answers to pretty much EQUAL # Of sources!

I KNEW "Someday" released in the early '90s. It had to have been in either 1990, or '91. It wasn't until '97, that Mariah left her more conservative, good girl persona to become a "sexy," bad girl, while collaborating with Puff Daddy and Mase.

Yup, and back then folks lost their shit because she essentially 'pulled a Janet'. Janet caused a bigger brouhaha, but got dinged less once the drama died down. I think Mariah got it worse because while her appearance does receive a lot of focus, people have never stopped comparing her present self to her past range starting from the late 90's.

That reminds me, I wonder if JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has a character named after Janet Jackson. We already know that Avdol named his chickens after Michael Jackson, Prince, and Lionel Richie (I'm surprised there wasn't a chicken named after Vanity!).

I haven't skipped ahead to the 4th season to see all the all characters. Maybe later, I will do some snooping for spoilers. The next character to be introduced in Stardust Crusaders is Alessi. Judging from his hairstyle, he reminds me of Busta Rhymes from '96.xD

I've only seen the first episode of JoJo and need to get on that because the online pics of the character designs are always interesting.

Just what Poke said.  Progressive in June, Alternative in Sept.  What they just showed was the first episode of Alternative.

... oh. I assumed this was the one in June.  So I didn't get the NAMES  mixed up. I got the DATES mixed up! Maybe I was going by what was in the Japanese trailer.

Correct. They actually showed the first ep of the 3rd series (FLCL: Alternative), since we're actually supposedly getting Progressive first and then Alternative second.

Seems understandably confusing since, like you said, that Japanese trailer that was cut in half between both upcoming seasons, had them in the opposite order compared to how we seem to be getting them in the US.

Meanwhile the US trailer combined footage from both to make one trailer for both upcoming seasons.

I'd say Progressive also looks a little more familiar to the first show in terms of even more focus on over-the-top-ness, at least in that footage from the Japanese trailer to me. Demarco also tweeted that both Progressive and Alternative are rather different from each other, which is to be expected since they each have different staff, so they seem to be expecting that some fans will favor Progressive or Alternative or vice versa.

Yup, I liked it as well.

I'm also glad it didn't do anything like "betray" the style or themes of the first show, which anime sequels weirdly tend to do sometimes.

And for those who were waiting for a more familiar feel, I thought plenty of the classic feel started seeping in more toward end of the first ep as Haruko broke more into the story when she came into the shop (and the Pillows music started to get louder) and then at the end where she broke into the action. Given how that played out I expect the future eps of Alternative, beyond this first one, to be more crazy as their slice of life story further merges with the usual FLCL insanity.

Really?! Wow!:o You've got a lot of catching up to do. The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise is a multi-generational series.

Most of the characters are named after singers and bands from the last 1/2 century. Listening to the names of the characters always makes me laugh and wonder if any of them know, that there are cartoon characters named after them.xD
