this girl that wants to go on a date with me is apparently a bookworm and wants to talk about books

i only go through random bouts of reading books but have almost always dated hard core book worms. some are writers and editors as well. none seemed to mind my lack of reading, even a little.

so don't worry about it and just ask questions about whatever book she wants to talk about.

now i haven't read a book in ever because i hate books

she's also extremely liberal

so Atlas Shrugged it is

Honestly the idea that you should read any type of book is so pretentious and elitist. Be like me and read drivel & smut!

But it's always nice to read a random book if you aren't busy. I kinda got half way into Brave New World, that is interesting, or you can read the hunger games book to start off somewhere. I'd say there are a ton of books you might be surprised to find out that you like. But you got to give it a try.

she's like the third Ph.d student that's contacted me. I DON'T KNOW WHY I ATTRACT THESE PEOPLE. I'M TOO DUMB FOR YOU, GO AWAY

First of all, it's crazy to assume you are dumb in comparison to a Ph.D student. Having a Ph.D just means they are really really good at a specific subject that they chose spend years studying before. It isn't a comparison to someone without one, as you haven't studied that subject.

It's also crazy to assume what people will think of you, as we aren't mind readers. Maybe she thinks you're funny, or interesting, clearly she wants to talk to you the very least. When you are walking out with preconceived notions about yourself, you only limit yourself, and probably destroy your confidence, the number one thing people look for on a date. Listen to some pumped up music to feel confident if you have too. Just remember she already thinks you're interesting. Don't try to be something you aren't, it's always more trouble than just being yourself.

My girlfriend loves books but I barely read myself. It's a pretty big part of her life, but it's less about reading and more about the subject matter. We talk a lot about her favorite subjects and it's fairly one sided and she's stoked to just have someone listen to her.

That being said, the fastest way to bond with someone is mutual hatred of something. And couples love to assume the role of the Shade Brigade.

Too bad that's exactly what he's doing here.

Naraku, if you're goal is to hit it and quit it, then good on ya. But if you're looking for something that's gonna last, this isn't the right way to go about it. I mean, unless you're prepared to completely change how you spend your time (I.E., reading books all the time). I don't know if you told her you like to read, but if you did, she is going to be expecting you to be able to talk about books far after this upcoming date. If she already knows you don't read and she just wants to talk about what she's read and listen to whatever you have to say, then that's good, I guess.

But faking being a bookworm to impress an actual bookworm is not going to get you anywhere, because she's going to find out pretty quick you're faking.
