Chapinator_X Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Anyone have these? So many people in my office have these, and after half a year of working there, I've felt oddly jealous. They're relatively worthless for anything other than filling space, but if anyone was going to decorate their office, it was always through Pop figures. Yesterday, I impulse bought one to put in my office as a status symbol that I too haven't lost all of my soul to this cruel and unforgiving world just yet. The one I settled with was of Sasha from Attack on Titan. I haven't gotten past the point in both the anime and manga after Sasha goes on a Titan-killing frenzy and Connie visits his hometown, but it seemed like the most appealing one until they make one of Ashido from Hero Academia. They don't have Asuka in their Tekken line, and other AoT folks I liked such as Mikasa and Ymir are respectively rare and nonexistent. Persona 5 and Nier ones are probably a long shot too. After I bought it, however, I've come to learn that collecting these damn things is the new "crazy cat-lady" thing where people just surround themselves with Pop figures. Maybe it's to fill that hollow void in the pit of their chest that they don't have a feasible hobby; maybe its them resigning to the fate that a spouse or children are a pipe dream; maybe they're just bonkers ass rich people who invest whatever money could've gone into a yacht to collect Pop figures. Has anyone fallen into the trap of Pop figures? Any lost souls like me who bought one out of conformity? Anyone genuinely find them to be worthwhile?
TrigunBebop Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) I have a few of the Adventure Time ones. Also have Vegeta, Frieza, Protoman, and Geordi La Forge. They're alright, I guess. I mostly just bought them because they looked adorably derpy. More or less stopped buying them though. I'd rather waste my money on GunPla. Edited January 1, 2018 by TrigunBebop
Chapinator_X Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 I realize that my OP sounded mean because I'm honestly contemplating getting more. I've been eyeing BOGO sales on them, and there are some Sailor Mercury, Nina Williams, Sakura, and Annie Leonhart figures that have been tempting me. Is taking them out of the box a good way of displaying them, or should I go for the collector value of keeping them safe and secure inside?
André Toulon Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 My kids play with them....I'm not a collector, they're just toys afaic

I was thinking of taking mine out, but got anxious about cracking it open if they're not going to be as stable or get easily smudged. I did take off the stickers because Gamestop pasted a thousand stickers on there to remind everyone that Sasha is a GS exclusive, so I guess I wouldn't want to have all that effort I took to get them off to go to waste. It would also easily answer any "What figure is that!?" questions that may pop up.
katt_goddess Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I've got a few floating around here. Quick glance... Doc Brown from Back to the Future Batman in Joker's Colors Groot baby Groot [out of box...I had to] Han Solo in snow gear Widowmaker from Overwatch that Assassin dude from Assassin's Creed Lemon Merengue from Strawberry Shortcake - I'll be modding her into Bitch Pudding with a sidekick gimp frog just for lols.

GuyBeardmane Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I bought a Macho Man Randy Savage one as a pity buy because I went into a local toy store and I was the only customer in there at the time. Then my nieces and nephews went and bought the New Day three-pack for me for Christmas a year or so back. So now I have these things sitting around, and I don't plan on buying anymore. But I half-expect that I'm gonna wind up with more of these without realizing how I got them.
Juice McKenzie Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I have Scarecrow from BTAS, a SS Goku that my friend got from some monthly subscription thing, Foxy from FNAF, Symbiotic Spiderman, Venom, Carnage, Anti Venom, Spiderman, Sharknado and the White Power Ranger

They are inexpensive collectibles, which is what makes them so desirable.
