It's a fun ride. I know we have a couple of big anime-does-Western-superheroes franchises now, but what I liked about it is how depressingly realistic its premise feels. If people with superpowers started showing up today, of course someone would try and spin a reality show out of it, and of course everything would be plastered with corporate sponsorships. It's incredibly refreshing to have a protagonist that's an adult single father as opposed to the standard hyperactive teenager, and the rest of the cast is full of colorful personalities who each get at least a bit of time to shine.

I'll never understand why the block didn't go after the first season back in the day (or maybe they did and couldn't get it). It would have been a perfect fit.

I technically have a Netflix account through our Xfinity subscription, but I've never once bothered to log into it.

It is morally justifiable to pirate any and all things Netflix.

i genuinely do not get the absurd hype over these basic-ass chicken sandwiches. Like, a nice grilled chicken club with cheese and BLT? Sure, that's doing something. But just slapping the chicken between two slices of bread with some token pickles? That's just lame.

Well no, I don't think it's strange that you remember it if you saw it right after you started watching the block. At the same time you're probably one of the few who does, since even trying to look up information about it, the only reference I ever saw was to its April 2004 premiere. What gets me is that I know I saw at least part of it somewhere on TV ages ago, but if it wasn't on [as] then I have no idea where. There was a watching thread for it on the ASMB, but I think I'd already seen it by then.

I forgot how great most of The Animatrix was. I could have sworn I'd seen it on TV somewhere before, but apparently this was the first airing since it premiered back in 2004.
