  1. The manga for Aku no Hana is a dark philosophical school life kinda story. But at the same time, Nakamura can be immature at times. I’d recommend Happiness from the same author, but that’s a lot more heavily rooted in supernatural horror if that’s ok.
  2. I was gonna say Onani Master Kurosawa, but I was racking my head because it shares the anxiety of isolation from Punpun but I don’t remember it being as surreal. It looks like it follows the OP’s criteria though for something that’s dark, psychological, and reality-based so it could be a good shot.
  3. Imagine if Mayweather did a full middle finger to everyone by giving his first loss to a YouTuber.
  4. Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg… and my arm… even my fingers. The body I’ve lost… the comrades I’ve lost… won’t stop hurting… It’s like they’re all still there. You feel it, too, don’t you?
  5. My rule of thumb would be to look up manga influenced by Dazai’s No Longer Human. Zetsubou-sensei is kinda close but that’s more of an observational gag comedy with dark surreal elements.
  6. I still have a lot of work to do on the novel I want to write, but in the meantime, I’m still blogging about anime and playing vidjas. I think the blog that usually kept with just ended up taking more time as I’ve been doing some stay-at-home work.
  7. The same situation kinda happened with newer acts like One Direction and 2010-era Justin Bieber. Funny enough, I don’t remember if people really cared when Backstreet Boys did a BK promotional during the height of the 90’s boy band wars. I think the main difference with BTS is how much of a role social media played in bolstering their international success, making their western fans more tech-literate and making it easier to aggressively push for their favorite boy band’s presence on and offline. Stan culture also made Kpop fandoms in general thrive on theatrics, so aggressive or dramatic efforts to support your band means as much to hardcore fans as buying merch or loving the music. Apologies for the rambling. I’m always fascinated with looking into how trends grow, thrive, or decline.
  8. Instead of shouting “I’m Pickle Rick!” like what happened with the Szechuan sauce, the BTS Army will play fancams for the cashier as if to cancel them in real life if they run out of the BTS sauces.
  9. It’s the only one of these music-themed meals I’d be tempted to get because it’s just chicken nuggets and fries with two sauces. There isn’t a convoluted “Big Mac but with no pickles and an Oreo McFlurry” or “Quarter Pounder with lettuce and bacon and a Sprite” like the other musician orders. It’s just “imagine these nuggets with some cheap gochujang sauce and even cheaper cajun sauce”. I can respect the simplicity.
  10. No but I knew someone in high school who used to get high at the cemetery alone. Don’t know why, but they designated the cemetery as their go-to space for smoking weed. Have you legitimately slipped on a banana peel?
  11. Drifting through the wind
  12. Ah screen name… Now that’s a screen name I haven’t seen in a while.

  15. “Hey, I had to wipe my ass with SOMEthing!”
  16. I’m not sure if singing love songs or accessing YouTube would tie into his release agreement not to be anywhere near violent/erotic media or Jodie Foster-related content.
  17. It’s my cat Prudence. I adopted since last year. She’s super sweet, but also very curious and climbs everywhere.
  18. The thumbnail left out the end of the sentence being crumbs, so now it looks like she has something else in mind

  20. I don’t remember a summer evening where you don’t hear fireworks cracking in the distance.
  21. Someone can be considered not manly for just about anything, but it’s all about peer pressuring dudes out of life’s bountiful experiences.
