  1. Okay. Friendship is Magic and all, but, Spinel, get your ass back here. You've got some questions to answer. First of all, where did you get that Rejuvenator? Now, I'm willing to let my imagination fill this one in, and assume it just happened to be left in the Garden. The implications of which are a little bit haunting itself. I wouldn't put it past Pink to have "reset" Spinel a time or two or any time she got bored or thought it would be fun. The Injector, tho. Where the hell did that come from? Seems kinda new-tech to me. That doesn't look like the sort of thing Pink would leave lying around "just in case." So, somehow, she manages to get her hands on a possibly-new Injector, filled with prodigiously potent planet poison, conveniently capped with a gem in her own image (a special gem that seemingly nobody in recent memory will have ever known about), all within the span of... like, a day, between when she gets the gem broadcast message and arriving on Earth, all without the Diamonds ever knowing (you'd think they would notice something like that leaving Homeworld). I don't actually expect to see that one explained. But if they did, I guess they could set up somebody somewhere out there that still holds a grudge, giving Spinel the means to carry out their plan without direct involvement. Still, bit of a... stretch. Ha. Overall, kinda didn't really like the musical nature of the movie. It's not exactly unusual for the franchise, but, the songs used to be a little more special. Packing 80% of the movie with them just didn't leave much room for anything else. Some history/exposition was nice. Mostly, the whole thing felt a bit rushed. Was ok with the quick villain setup, no real need to do a lot of build up for that with the show/setting fairly established. But, it just kept rushing along. I blame the musical-ness. But also I guess a little bit of setting up a conflict that isn't so traditional. They did all the Epic Fight stuff back on Homeworld. In a way, I suppose looking at the entire movie as setting up for Spinel's redemption, instead of a conflict to be resolved by Steven/Gems, kinda helps with that. Idk. Conclusion, I wasn't entirely thrilled with how it turned out. But, it also did pretty much fit with the show. Can't really complain all that much. However, I did find it oddly poetic, how much of the plot you can sorta trace back to this song. Evidently, judging from the recent comments, I'm not alone in thinking this. It's all coming full circle. I genuinely expected Spinel to start singing some variation of this in the Garden. Maybe there are some music nerds out there that will dissect it enough to find some similarities.
  2. My tastes skew more towards old style.
  3. Eh. If you've seen one puny green bridge-dwelling trog, you've seen 'em all.
  4. I doubt bucket is a fan. He's just found a topic where he can take a stupid stance and get people to pay attention to him.
  5. Classic? Pfft. See if you can get them to play the original classic arrangements.
  6. Really? You've kept so quiet about it up until now.
  7. Golden Girls is timeless, yo.
  8. Well, looks like they proved you wrong. Just here to promote gambling.
  9. First I posted modern music made in the old style. Now, an old song made modern.
  10. So I'm sure by now most people have heard of The Hu and their Mongolian folk metal. And that's cool and all. How about a step further. Mongolian folk, blended with Latvian bagpipes and drums. You know you're pretty deep on youtube when the aspect ratio starts looking weird.
  11. Praising knife work while their index fingers are just pointing along the knife. Lacks control. Amateurs.
  12. Nude sculptures everywhere. Dicks and titties as far as the eye can see.
  13. I really hate action shows/movies that hide all the good action during dark/night scenes. Up the damned contrast. That said, still kinda cool on this show. It's not bad. But. I think the mechs really limit the range of motion for animating the fight scenes. Being what I would've expected to be the big draw (for me), so far, disappointed. Hasn't really done much to get my attention. Kinda generic.
  14. Ahhahah. RWBY outfits.
  15. The accent was always pretty clear about it.
  16. "What if we took modern rock/metal music and arranged it as if it were written 500 years ago?" Said nobody, ever. Or, these mad lads, evidently.
  17. Just a heads up, this thread will be going a bit international.
  18. This group makes bluegrass metal sound pretty normal by comparison.
  19. For the sake of clarity, this isn't exactly my own personal music taste. That's plenty strange on its own. No. This thread will be for all the things I find immensely amusing. Largely due to subversion of one type or another. Take something familiar, and mash it up with something else. I've come to learn not to doubt in the internet. No matter how terrible an idea I've had is, in this case, bluegrass Metallica, somebody else with talent has already had this terrible idea and seen it to fruition.
  20. Been curating a playlist at work, and for the sake of variety, been adding some... unusual selections that I dig up on youtube. And, as we all know, once you start going down the youtube rabbit hole, things get weird. There will be more. Many more. Share your own weirdness. Or don't. I mostly just needed somewhere to collect these vids and also maybe subject more innocent ears to the insanity.
  21. Would it be a terrible decision if it was intentional, tho? In a way, they get away with showing a little bit more of the show that was left on the edit block, even if it is just a few seconds long. I like how the animation complaints have died down, tho. Whether it's from just too tired to point it out, or letting it grow on 'em, eh, I'll take it. Also enjoying how authentically crass Cammie's writing seems to be. Because of course the most vulgar person on the show is going to be the little Scottish shite.
