Yeahh.. part of it is accepting this isn't really any sort of reboot or reimagining. It's literally running right off of later seasons.. or a parallel anime version that runs with mostly the same elements (see all the other anime shorts over the years.. basically making up their own R&M universe because hey, infinite universes, it's all technically valid, right?) It just.. doesn't really feel like it totally understands the source material at all. Like they're getting the original through a bad translation (which, fair, prolly doesn't translate super well...), filtering it through some of their own cultural imagery, and trying to pass it off as just as good. I'll say it again, this could've worked so much better as "guest episodes" the way Adventure Time used to do. A guest writer telling their story, or a guest animator putting their spin on it. AT had some wild episodes, and some pretty impressive names. And I think R&M could absolutely justify that within-universe. But an entire season? Gonna get real old real quick.

I did this with my first laptop, maybe even second, but eventually graduated to epoxy putty. Tape eventually loses adhesion as the hinge keeps fighting it. Plus all that residue, bleh. Epoxy putty says "the hinge inside will break long before this ever pops open again." This was also back when it was somewhat prohibitive for me to just replace the hinge..

Well, to the surprise of no one, that was kinda terrible. But I guess that's expected when you try to force an extended story out of this.. However, it does raise one interesting idea to me.. I don't think this ever really needed to be a whole-ass series, but, I could definitely see them pulling an Adventure Time and occasionally having guest writers or animators or whatever.

Why can't laptops just use some actual sturdy hinges? D=

Tomba finally re-released.. now I gotta decide if I want it on PC, or wait for the PS4 release. Seems only fitting to have it properly back on console..

Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village premiers on 8/10
rpgamer replied to Toonamiguy321's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Eh, maybe a bit early to call that one.. I mean, the train arc was also originally a movie that also got the episodic treatment. And ffs, if we had to sit through the shitty final finale finisher srsly last one of AoT, we could sure as hell handle these. -

Looking ahead, since I've been flip-flopping on cutting the cord.. this arc is still all up available on.. Netflix, I think, right? And I expect Uzumaki will get the typical "next day on Max" treatment.. Kinda hate losing the block vibes (even tho I've been relegated to DVR squad for a while now..). But just can't sustain currently.. -

I mean.. what is there that's left to discuss of this? (and DBZ..) Does seem baffling that they skipped over the one good memorable arc of the show, tho.- 58 replies

Twitch Plays Pokemon happened 10 years ago. Sometime last year I knew it was coming.. and then completely forgot about it. Not that I was hugely a part of it.. but just feels like one of those events worth observing. I also just like occasionally reminding some people how long ago that happened. Praise bird Jesus

Unsurprisingly, Off The Air is a decent goldmine for weird.. -
Ain't gotta go mature to get something off the beaten path. Hell, let's cover all our bases: Aired on CN/old Toonami, long-running series, hasn't been played to death.. Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin surely fit the bill. Both of which are deserving of a full proper run (assuming this block would actually last for it..).

I didn't mind the idea of Checkered Past.. but they really shot themselves in the foot with scheduling, imo. I really only had good watching opportunity on Friday, and when they transitioned to "we're only going to show these two things every week for months now" it felt pretty shit to be missing out on variety. Even worse that half of it was Cow and Chicken, which just never clicked for me. Can't say I've got high hopes for this change, tho. On top of being a linear story, they're also stories that just everyone knows by now. These aren't things you watch week by week. These are things you binge for nostalgia at best, or find specific scenes/episodes of just the good stuff you remember. I'd maybe be more optimistic if they chose some things that were a little more under the radar, something old and good, but not big name.. but also recognize that's just as likely to fail when nobody knows enough to care to give it a chance.

Oh hey, it looks like it also happens to the little pop-up when someone replies to a thread while you're reading it? That's just multiple concentric rings around the pop-up.. almost makes me want to hunt down some other boards that use whatever we're on and see if they have similar things happen..

And we should all count ourselves lucky that he's decided not to use his powers for evil. -
Only just caught up with last week, and probably none of this will matter, but.. Shou wasn't a gangster, and he wasn't a "rich kid with a safe house." Club Shou Time was very clearly a host club. Ladies paying for a bit of company. Staying true to their character, they had to put up a good fight to protect their clients..

So, basically just checking where I might find currently running dubs.. it seems like having Max and Crunchyroll is all I'd really need to mostly replicate the block.. unless searches are misleading and releases are way behind or something.. But also feels like we're about to jump into a very uncertain time.. Naruto ending (though I had no intention of going out of my way to watch that on my own), Lyco looking pretty short and nearly wrapped up, Kamui doesn't seem like it has much more left in it. We've got one new show running, but hardly seems like an anchor show.. Maybe just need to take the plunge, tho.. gotta find somewhere to save a few bucks..
