2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
rpgamer replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
All this glossing over the fact that you don't have to be 18+ to know you're gay, or trans, or anything else about yourself. Kids know what they know, and often the only difference between a kid and adult when it comes to their own identity is whether they have the tools and terms to express how they feel about themselves. And that's what education is all about. The additional layer of bullshit is this entire railing against "pushing" some LGBT agenda while being completely blind to how that rhetoric is explicitly pushing a very real heteronormative agenda. Teaching something isn't explicitly pushing anything. It's giving people the tools and knowledge to expand their perspective. Which, understandably, being a conservative parrot, is antithetical to your world view. -

A testament to just how stupifying MD's take on taxes is. Mf out here trying to convince us $7.25 would be totally fine for everybody if it weren't for those pesky taxes. -

Holy hell you really are dumb. Who tf cares what the actual numbers are? The entire point is making more money means being less impacted by what is taken. The point is to not look at just the numbers, but what those numbers mean to actual people trying to live. But we all know empathy is not your strong suit. -

Has no one spelled this out for you? If you make 100k and government takes 10k in taxes, you're still able to live quite comfortably on 90k. If you're making 30k, 3k getting taken is a lot more impactful. Getting paid more might mean losing more in taxes, but it also means being less impacted by it. -

I would go so far as to argue these are the sorts of things that barely even factor for third party voters, by design of the system. Candidates like this get to talk a big game with lofty ideals and no logistical way to achieve them, attracting voters just like this who think these candidates will "stick it to corporations" or some shit.. when the reality is these candidates are so far off the radar that the corporations in charge just don't even give a shit. But, being politicians, you can bet your ass that if they ever had enough sway to be influential, they'd be getting bought off like everyone else. -

All it's really highlighted, for me at least, is just how much of a Fox News parrot she is. Her "descent" is entirely predictable when you see it as just sharing every talking point from that insulated bubble. Right down to the name calling. -

The thing is. You haven't actually answered any question posed to you. You are against the genocide of Palestine. Ok, fair. What is your solution? Not some generalist grass-roots activism for some slow change. An actual direct answer to the problem you are faced with. Your grass roots activism isn't going to do shit to stop the genocide in the immediate. Waving a magic wand to make them "just stop" doesn't solve the root causes. If you're against the genocide, and that is literally the only issue you care about, you need to stop and ask yourself what actions you can take right now that will effect meaningful change. Protests? Socialist organizations? All while you literally acknowledge a Trump presidency would speed the Palestinian downfall. You're pussyfooting because you want to believe you made a morally right choice, despite knowing, deep down, your very own actions are exactly the type that enable that which you abhor. tl;dr, pick your battles. You can support all those independent causes you believe in while still acknowledging one party is actively worse for both this nation and those same causes. The only thing saving you from total cognitive dissonance is holding onto the belief that enough voters will keep Trump out of office so that you can sit on your high horse and declare your vote as inconsequential for someone you believed to be morally superior. -
The only logical conclusion here is this is basically just for the Japanese R&M fans. Those that enjoy western media and can appreciate their cultural spin on it. With the hope that westerners that enjoy anime will surely love seeing one of "their" shows being made into anime..... without any real consideration for how much overlap there really is for anime fans and R&M fans.. For them, the anime is basically on the same level as anything else on offer. For us.. well, it's just combining two enjoyable media to create something not quite as good as either.

Obviously the solution is to bomb the shit out of Israel to stop them committing genocide against Palestine. If you really think your third party candidate wouldn't get chewed up and spit out by the corporate geopolitical world stage and end up folding on all their big talk, well.. I ain't the only one brainwashed between us.. -

Got some news for you.. ain't nobody trying to win you over. -
Yeahh.. part of it is accepting this isn't really any sort of reboot or reimagining. It's literally running right off of later seasons.. or a parallel anime version that runs with mostly the same elements (see all the other anime shorts over the years.. basically making up their own R&M universe because hey, infinite universes, it's all technically valid, right?) It just.. doesn't really feel like it totally understands the source material at all. Like they're getting the original through a bad translation (which, fair, prolly doesn't translate super well...), filtering it through some of their own cultural imagery, and trying to pass it off as just as good. I'll say it again, this could've worked so much better as "guest episodes" the way Adventure Time used to do. A guest writer telling their story, or a guest animator putting their spin on it. AT had some wild episodes, and some pretty impressive names. And I think R&M could absolutely justify that within-universe. But an entire season? Gonna get real old real quick.

I did this with my first laptop, maybe even second, but eventually graduated to epoxy putty. Tape eventually loses adhesion as the hinge keeps fighting it. Plus all that residue, bleh. Epoxy putty says "the hinge inside will break long before this ever pops open again." This was also back when it was somewhat prohibitive for me to just replace the hinge..

Not even sure that's the weird part.. "for that special lady in your life"? W..What? So, like.. are they targeting men who should be buying these for their partners..? As if those men would be self-aware enough to know they've never given an orgasm to anyone, and somehow aren't insecure enough to encourage their partner to get themselves off? -
Well, to the surprise of no one, that was kinda terrible. But I guess that's expected when you try to force an extended story out of this.. However, it does raise one interesting idea to me.. I don't think this ever really needed to be a whole-ass series, but, I could definitely see them pulling an Adventure Time and occasionally having guest writers or animators or whatever.

Y'know, MD has kinda baffled me for a few pages now.. I mean, she was with everyone else looking for Biden to step aside as it became increasingly likely he couldn't beat Trump. But, now there's a candidate that is looking in a pretty good position, and she keeps attacking, for the flimsiest reasons? But, I've finally realized it was never a concern about Biden beating Trump. It looks more like a blind assumption that Biden stepping down means Trump is the default winner. And/or, like any good jongo, she's just here to parrot the latest Fucks News talking points. -

Ok, can anyone un-Trumpify this in a way that gives some actual context to those of us sane enough to stay off of any of these sites? -
Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

I'm confused how MD even thinks Musk has a leg to stand on here.. the dude literally told these companies to "go fuck themselves, I don't want you to advertise here." Is it even a boycott at that point? -
Tomba finally re-released.. now I gotta decide if I want it on PC, or wait for the PS4 release. Seems only fitting to have it properly back on console..

What do you expect when someone declares "mainstream media" the enemy? "Yeah, unlike you sheep, I get my news from an alternative source that no reputable agency knows it trusts. And I know I don't need to face check anything from them because they're not mainstream so they would never lie."

I mean.. honestly, genetics aside, it's not exactly like she's completely dominating in her field. Kinda feels like all the arguments would hold a lot more water if, due to whatever genetic expression, she had a clear and undeniable advantage over all the competition. As is, most arguments against her seem to not-so-subtly be (failing to) skirt around the "she looks like a dude" complaint.
