  1. That reminds of this book... This fucking book.
  2. Invisible semi-trucks. Turning left is a bitch. On a related note, whenever We think We see something move out of the corner of Our eye, but then it doesn't look like there's anything there, We wonder if it was a Predator.
  3. Walls are always a good choice.
  4. How do you determine that anything is true or real? As far as a name goes, if it's something that, when shouted in a crowded area, would cause you to look up from what you're doing, then that is mostly sufficient. There are odd cases where it could be more of a conditioned response than an internal identification, though. If you think about yourself in third person, it's whatever you use while doing so. Not sure how many people do that though- many people don't even think in words. So probably the best indicator is how you would want to be referred to if someone were writing a biography of you.
  5. We had many. Author, president, fashion designer, shortstop, teacher, scientist, horse trainer, space pirate... It changed on the weekly. Around fourth grade We sort of centered on architect and that lasted a few years.
  6. Och, 'n how come not? Her wurds mak' perfect sense tae me. What's th' maiter wi' you?
  7. Our favorite? Gosh there are so many. That one time when you got a pinned thread was pretty neat. Although the time when you said you were leaving forever was pretty good too and everyone was like "ok bye" Oh, and then the time where We talked about memories... Classic. But really, We think the best has gotta be the time you made Pat cry. Err... We mean Rat.
  8. In general, yes. Those are the parameters in which the universe works. One could make a case that there's more nuance to it, but it doesn't change the outcome so We won't bother with it. The larger point is that this observation defines only the boundary conditions, and there are multiple ways of operating within that boundary- ways that have a great deal of variance between them. And so if there is any meaning to be fabricated from life it is entirely tied to the way one chooses to operate and not the trivial, immutable backdrop that is suffering.
  9. You're right. It doesn't really matter. Even if you had a car, girls still wouldn't want to date you.
  10. A thing We noticed. Not sure if you guys were aware. Dark theme: White theme:
  11. There's a certain kind of, some might say, broken -We fancy the term eccentric Ourself, but sometimes you have to call a spade a shovel- that many here exemplify. Not all, but many. That's not what's special though, in and of itself, but rather that said brokenness is tolerated. Celebrated, in some circumstances. We're an Island of Misfit Toys.
  12. This was Our initial thought too, but We're hesitant to believe that it's actually the case. Primarily because We're not certain that Packard could work out how to upload videos to YouTube
  13. Something? Absolutely. Something interesting? Unlikely. Everything that happens has an explanation. And regardless of how sensational the event, the probability of the explanation not being mundane is almost negligible.
  14. In general, We are open to possibilities, but are skeptical of any claims of definitude that do not incorporate phenomenal misunderstanding. Take yetis, for example. We believe they exist with certainty. Just that they're actually bears.
  15. Honestly, when first reading OP's idea We didn't find it at all appealing. But for some reason We like this imagery. Pretty sure it's just because you said blueberry, and We're a little hungry at the moment.
  16. Interesting. Tell us more about how you're so insecure that you feel threatened by the simple act of disagreement and about how you're so incompetent that you can't employ reason to win an argument and must try with intimidation. Also explain what it's like when you still can't win that way because no one is afraid of you.
  17. When the day is long and the night, the night, is yours alone...
  18. It's like a horse/water thing. Believe Us, if shaping the wills of others to that extent were within Our command, you'd have an entirely different set of concerns with regards to an occupation. Society is simply an aggregate. Any action taken amongst others contributes to it. Whether it is a positive or meaningful contribution depends on the specifics, and is often subjective.
  19. No. No we cannot. Some may provide inspiration or encouragement, but motivation must ultimately come from you. For Our part, We offer this: Employment is a means to an end. Sometimes, that end is itself merely means to another end, but It is not uncommon for people to draw purpose from the work they do. It provides a sense of contribution to the propped up notion of society, or a cursory opening to interaction with your surroundings, or at the very least, a distraction from the bleakness of everyday humdrum existence. Certainly, one need not obtain such things to trudge through life; without any, though, the inevitable release becomes all the more sweeter.
  20. Didn't realize you were dating a cat.
  21. Being the morbid fuck that We are, the story has always been a favorite of Ours despite its problematic message. (As an aside, We firmly believe that some people are inherently bad actors, but as there is no obvious way to identify them as such without giving them a chance to prove themselves, the lesson We've taken from it is to be cautious about how vulnerable you make yourself, particularly when your instincts raise alarm.) One of the things We wanted to do in Our retelling was to emphasize how the frog's nature plays a part in the outcome as well. The early description of her interactions with Karen is meant to establish a tendency to put others' desires ahead of her own. It's definitely one of the threads We would develop more if We ever come back to this. In the early stages, We had considered making the sting happen not entirely intentionally, like there's a close call during the crossing and she panics but We couldn't work out a way to make it feel right.
  22. Sorry, hon, but if you have to wonder, the answer is probably not.
  23. We got it when We were fifteen, so We're about in the same boat. And Our house was like the last one within five counties to be connected. We forget that sometimes, too. So really, it shouldn't have been all that surprising, but it's just not something We have to think about usually.
  24. See that one guy just sitting in his chair, a little perplexed? He's probably thinking "Is this that effort thing everyone is always going on about? Don't see the appeal." 'Cause that's what We'd be doing.
  25. We weren't planning on eating it outside...
