  1. Already seeing places like Amazon, Apple, and YouTube featuring some of these services as “channel add ons” where you can watch them all in the same place. The only difference is the price is the same as the standalone, but it does simplify things The services resisted this because it involves revenue sharing but some eventually got on board because they realized people want simplicity Amazon lets you add Paramount and Max and you watch it all in Prime Video. It all just goes to your Amazon account. Very simple Cable companies let you add it on but it still invokes logging in to the services separately rather than it all being on your guide. Disney will soon offer Hulu as a tab in plus it’s happening slowly
  2. Right, sequel seasons give us no real information. We only know what Jason tells us and I don’t think he even knows where they stand It’s like when I was told I didn’t know what I was talking about when I said Toonami wouldn’t get dub premieres from Funimation anymore before because they were airing Super and Titan. We all know those were controlled by an external party and an old favorable contract.
  3. I don’t believe it yet either I have a feeling anything that was airing before the merger has some kind deal set when they were Funimation. But while Funimation would let Toonami air a show 2 weeks after them, CR is pushing it to 6-8 weeks I remember after that announced MHA, some on Twitter were like “haha look at all you fools who said they can’t get CR titles. If you don’t work at Toonami you don’t know anything so keep your mouth shut” Well, Demarco publicly stating the problems with Sony is where we get the ideas from. We really wouldn’t know that if not for what he’s saying. Also, like you said, until we get a non sequel title from them, I don’t think of them as anything other than a forced partner
  4. It does drive me crazy when fans still justify the lack of pickups but saying “well they can’t get anything popular”. We’ve been past that for 2 years now, they’ve had ample time to adjust and it seems like they still hold out hope that CR is going to magically turn around and run back into Toonami’s arms. If we’ve seen anything from them the last few months- they are a company that doesn’t GAF about anything except dominating the market. Even doing shitty things to their own talent to get there. Why would they all of a sudden care about helping Toonami? They need to stop expecting a miracle with the big titles and just get SOMETHING that’s not a rerun from another source. Try it out. People will still defend this and say “well what if the ratings are bad and the block gets cancelled? They can’t just get anything!” IMO Then that’s what happens, we can either try an interesting block and fail or continue in a state of perpetual mediocrity and reruns.
  5. Don’t know if he follows this board, but he posted a thread about Twitter bringing out the worst in people, but says it’s mostly been that way since Elon took over
  6. Not to mention the political fighting. It’s his Twitter so he can do whatever he wants with it, but spending time doing that and the random mid-day movie rewatches doesn’t give the impression that he’s strapped for time.
  7. Don’t mind him sharing his opinion, but he seems to posts things he knows are going to generate discussion and disagreements then gets mad at people who don’t agree with him I remember when he was big on Ask.fm he responded to me implying my question was really stupid and obvious. He could’ve just not answered. It seemed like he did it to show people how he deals with “dumb” questions Hes the smartest guy in the room with the correct opinions on everything and you better not tell him otherwise
  8. He does this all the time where he posts an odd take on something but gets mad at anyone who disagrees with him. I mean you can disagree with him, but you have to tread REAL lightly or he gets offended. But if you’re putting something out there that you know is going get pushback- be ready for the comments
  9. I’m going to guess no, but a lot of those guys are just starting out. GT has his reputation, but he’s also friends with all of these guys going back to the CN days. That alone probably helps him get his way I do appreciate him actually answering the questions, but it does leave us with a few more. The biggest is how will airing Primal/Uniciorn on Thursday get it more attention? The only obvious thing is do it can get out on MAX before the weekend Lastly, his SJ answer has never made a lot of sense. It really boils down to he had a show he wanted in what he thinks is a more visible timeslot and Toonami not only airs late, but it’s known for anime. However, they also aired it on Sunday and Wednesday Primetime slots. I can definitely understand if he wanted Primal and Unicorn to be there, but they are at midnight. As far as “making a big hooplah” for Jack, they definitely did so I don’t know what he’s on about there. It seems he’s just dancing around the fact that he doesn’t like the timeslot and he thinks it needs more visibility.
  10. I asked a follow up question and he said he has nothing to do with scheduling, which I believe. I just think it’s a combination of AS knowing his thoughts on the subject and them knowing the projects are more mainstream then the average Toonami program. The general lack of awareness that Toonami is still around probably doesn’t help Jack did great on the block so his fears may have been before it aired, but once his thoughts were out there AS may be just reading into it too much and the Thursday compromise is born I respect that he at least answered the question because it would be very easy to just ignore
  11. Damn, they’re being petty over less than 24 hours. Seriously just let them post it right away and call it a day. It’s not going to affect ratings one way or another at this point
  12. Honestly, the Doctor Stone thing makes no sense. It’s the first new thing in several months and nothing is said. Even if it’s a little predictable sequel, it’s significant Regarding Gundam, if they manage to get it in the end, it shows that he should never publicly close the door on a show. People will take that to mean “don’t wait for it. Go watch it” Hellsing was lesson number 1 in that and I’d say MHA was the second, I literally was 2 seasons in on my own when they announced it for Toonami
  13. I’m bookmarking that page. It’s really interesting to see how low these numbers are now days
  14. Despite the general fanbase bemoaning Primal reruns starting out the block, people were live tweeting it. Of course, the big Toonami fan sites were tweeting along as the episode aired as usual, but several were also doing low effort tweets (“I wish I had a dinosaur!” “Good one Spear” “lol typical Fang”) which seemed to be this thing people do to get all Toonami shows trending. Or these are people who just love to watch this show which will vindicate the network in this choice. Of course, if you want to see the show gone, don’t feel obligated to give it any extra attention or it’ll be back for another go round next time.
  15. I swear, this week there will still be people who go “Way to go Spear!” #Primal #Toonami during the whole hour. That’s what’s most annoying. There’s a few on Twitter who think it’s funny how many times it’s run and will probably try to get it to trend as a lark Some fan site accounts will also highlight how “an hour of Primal season 2 kicks off the block…NOW! #Primal #Toonami” lol We also can’t discount the possibility that the ratings for the hour will be on par with the MHA hour and it’ll completely vindicate their decision. Stranger things have happened
  16. I don’t know what the deal with Sentai is It seems like they get tied up in going after popular Sony things that they aren’t looking at Sentai. I hope I’m wrong on that My discussions with fandom on this typically result in being told that Sentai doesn’t have “good” or “popular” things and that Toonami just “can’t air ANYTHING” if they hope to hook the casual audience I do think if this is the attitude they share, it goes against the principles of what made Toonami popular to begin with. They took lesser known shows and elevated them. They didn’t take already popular things and threw them out there for the smaller and smaller audience that hadn’t already seen it them. It goes bother me a little that they are still hoping the Sony thing gets better because they will continue to pin their hopes on that with a low yield. If it becomes a formalized partnership then great, but I just wouldn’t trust them on a show by show basis. They really should take a look at the Sentai catalog and pick some cheap things that look like they’d fit the block. Even if they are other genres- try something out. Continuing to hope Sony will cooperate is just not worth it when half the time you have to stall or resort to reruns. Kind of reminds me of the guy who finally gets over their ex and makes a connection but then starts ignoring her because the ex finally replied “k” to a text 2 weeks later
  17. They said something about less lawyers ti work on this stuff, but that’s not something they can blame on Japan- that’s a WBD problem But if they used to have lawyers going at Japan 24/7 and now they have 1 who only tries to talk to them every couple of days that can significantly slow things down
  18. I can’t tell you how many times CR announced a shows dubbed starting “tomorrow” in the last little while i think Unicorn is going to be one of those shows they are marketing to every potential audience. AS casuals, families, Toonami viewers, and streamers. I feel like the same thing will happen with Superman
  19. “LOL we asked the same company that’s told us no 100 times a 101st time and they said no again! Sorry! Maybe next time they’ll say yes!”
  20. And that’s easy to fix. Someone’s got wrong data. Other than the grid we got no formal announcement of this
  21. Yet they insisted the NOW NEXT LATER bumps were of little value anymore
  22. I think they missed an opportunity in 2016 to get in on a partnership with Funimation to air simuldubs. Demarco wanted to see if MHA “would stay popular” and that backfired on them. They instead went down the “heavily requested” route of HXH Gundam and Jojo and Funimation kind of got something going without them But I’d say 2017-2018 was when things started to change. Simuldubs were taking off and these companies began to stop even considering Toonami has a place to premiere dubs. Now it was all good because they were still letting them air the shows a little later I think the whole thing really shifted with COVID. They were already on a cut budget due to the over spending in 2019 and not being able to pick things up gave the companies a chance to see they could do it without them. The complete blocking of shows we see now would be unheard of a few years ago I do hope their process isn’t just persuing these shows over and over again every time a slot opens up
  23. It’s been pretty good so far. including the visual quality Why is that the deal breaker? Especially when you’re having trouble finding what you’re looking for
