  1. Yes mostly because CR still doesn’t have closed captions on most of they’re dubs
  2. Hey why not break Superman up into 2 weeks with DBZ KAI at the end? might as well while they are at it. Then they would quietly chop off 3am It’s their own lack of planing if Ninja and Superman were this far apart. This the one area they CAN control since they are both originals. They could’ve done something there Of course you can’t discount the possibility that CR is once again making MHA hard on them by withholding information on their dub premiere. Then they’ll fight them on whether they can have it, then finally, they’ll make them wait until the Monday before the premiere to announce it Whats annoying is that despite the fanbase being disgusted with this, they’ll be a huge effort those nights to hashtag and trend it
  3. https://www.animefeminist.com/crunchyroll-fails-to-meet-industry-standards-for-closed-captioning/ This is an article going over the current state of closed captioning from Crunchyroll Toonami plays an interesting role in this. Basically, if they air the show, CR has to add captions because all shows that air on TV are legally required to have them per the FCC
  4. Thanks to all of you!
  5. Thanks! Happy retirement
  6. It’s always a little weird to me that some get so worked up about people having opinions. I’ve seen some who before anyone even says anything, will immediately get defensive over decision they make and that viewers don’t have any right to complain “because they don’t understand how TV works”. I’ve even seen this done, when we get GOOD NEWS. Like if we get a show we thought we couldn’t get, the lecture is at those who said they couldn’t get it. However, this is usually because Demarco himself has said they couldn’t get it so it’s not completely unreasonable to believe what the man is saying. Maybe he shouldn’t say this stuff either, but that’s another conversation But I’ve said it’s like sports fans on a forum or on X. They all have their opinions and get worked up, but it doesn’t really matter that much and people aren’t as worked up as they seem. It’s just online chatter
  7. So surreal to see Shippuden end
  8. Can you imagine how quick the block would’ve ended if they decided to go full nostalgia? It would’ve been crazy expensive and the novelty of it would’ve be worn off after a few weeks History had proven bringing in an old show doesnt lead to success no matter how many requests it gets
  9. Especially considering half the people were expecting a nostalgia block and the other half a block with all new shows. Neither of which was what we got. Being upfront that it was only going to be 2 new shows alongside Bleach and ASA reruns helped lower expectations of what this Toonami would start out as
  10. Seriously. Last minute schedule drops don’t do anyone any good I feel like this is revenge for Soul Eater showing up on a guide early Remember Lupin 5? They were going to take that all the way to Momocon until Epcar himself confirmed it in late April of 2019
  11. I think I speak for many when I say that the constant stalling, hoping for a new show and then not getting a new show is getting a little old. We keep trying to rationalize it and be positive but You can only blame CR so much. it appears to me that they are intentionally backing off acquisitions and prioritizing originals. But, what they have in the works isn’t coming any time soon and won’t be able to fill a 3 hour block
  12. Next time he has an AMA, someone should ask him
  13. Yeah. I can’t see them being too excited for a short term deal on something unless it’s paired with a multi year MAX agreement
  14. I’m guessing also they got a commitment from AS to share UWE Superman and Rick Anime and that caused them to back off having to look for new lead shows Also, the ratings haven’t been terrible despite all this and that’s taken the pressure off them to look for new things WBD’s tendency to be cheap could see a lack of value in an acquisition that doesn’t have reuse potential or max streaming I also think it’s always going to be easier to get approved to acquire a known entity or even if it’s an average performer because of predictability. If they have Lupin show available to air, they’ll always pick that over a brand new show because they have some idea of how it’ll perform vs risk something else bombing entirely So in my estimation, there is an intention to some of this vs them just continuing to chase dead end deals. If WBD is serious about Toonami’s future, throw them some stuff to keep them going. DC stuff, I think Scavengers should be a simul premiere also if they are trying to showcase the block
  15. Right- it’s not doomsaying, it’s a fact that they are light on the acquisition end. They can’t keep saying “Sony Sony Sony” either because that’s been a reality since 2021. There are other companies that are willing to give them something. Can’t keep hoping they’ll change their mind
  16. They seem to hold timeslots down because this seems to be the one audience in TV that doesn’t record things or uses a cable guide. We’ve seen proof time and again that moving a timeslot causes some of the audience to believe a show is gone. It’s like they are still stuck 20 years ago and only flip the TV on at the exact moment a show airs If you think I’m being harsh, look at some of the comments whenever a schedule change is announced and they ask what happened to the show that just ended and is being replaced
  17. I wouldn’t be surprised if scheduling choices in the future are made by AI because it can take into account so many factors based on cost, ratings, promotions, sponsorship, ect Perhaps it can be used for other things like picking appropriate episodes to air during holiday weeks, whether or not a marathon is warranted, ect. It would be based on actual data vs a persons antiquated idea of what works in TV Now if only it could be used to find Toonami a good show and take bias out of the equation 😂
  18. All we keep getting are sequel seasons of the same shows for various reasons, not surprised people burnout on them the longer they go on On the anime side, we haven’t been introduced to any new worlds since last year
  19. Is this going to be another “AS first, Toonami later” thing?
  20. It’s funny, I see some people defending their pickiness. “They can’t just air ANYTHING!” ”If they don’t get popular shows the ratings will suffer!” “They don’t have time to research shows and all the popular ones are owned by Sony. Sentai and Viz don’t have anything worthy of airing” Then, when they work out a deal for a sequel season owned by CR, everyone thinks it means something. But until I see them get a show that isn’t a sequel from when Funimation had the show, I wouldn’t think the relationship has improved. I’d rather they try things that are actually obtainable and fail rather than exist like this with constant delays every time they need to get a new show
  21. That’s absolute bull that they couldn’t just air an extra One Piece or Stone If they go for a full rerun of this and they still don’t have a new show, I don’t know what to think. If it is a one off, they got to know what this looks like
