So.....You think the sprinkler system used in a singular small, historic village to protect a tourist attraction is a feasible solution to the entirety of California. Pull out some of that arithmetic and tell me just how cost effective that would be. Here, I'll even save you some time...the village is about 140 square miles.... California is 165K square miles. Be sure to show your work. 1 3 Quote

Crunch the numbers, what would it cost? You’ve obviously done a lot of research on the subject. 3 Quote

Hopefully, he can enlighten us. 3 Quote

Never mind the costs. It saves lives as well as property. I thought you cared about lives. Anyway, these systems are likely to start popping up like mushrooms all over Japan, which itself is about the same size as California. Yes, I mean EXACTLY the same way that things like high speed rail have popped up there. Now, I'm sure California could find the money for this new system, just by cutting all the waste and fraud out of the existing budget. 2 Quote

Japan is famous for its deserts and droughts like California, yes. Those sprinklers must have nothing to do with the material and everything to do with an American-centric view of everything that happens in the world. Japan definitely shouldn't put more money into less pressing matters like earthquakes, tsunamis, and typhoons. Why I fathomed to reason people having faith in a failed businessman bankrupting casinos is now beyond me when the answer was always disappointingly obvious: sheer stupidity and bold contempt for actual expertise. 1 2 Quote

Trump sold two casinos to Carl Icahn, who continued to operate them while renting Trump's name on a franchise basis. It is Carl who proceded to neglect both properties to a point of multiple and quite serious building and safety code violations and ultimately brought them into bankruptcy. Trump had to litigate against Carl to have his name removed ftom the properties. Carl closed the properties after one of the unions involved with them went on strike. Carl refused all parts of the proposed union contract, including pay and health benefit increases. None of that had been Trump's decision to make. 1 1 Quote

Besides the fact the system is itself a novelty, just the idea that you could build a sprinkler system so big it could chase off them whippersnapper kids out of an entire fucking town has some obvious appeal to a certain demographic. The Evil Dr. Longshadow Posted July 8 Author Posted July 8 Got a troubled strip mall. More than half the stores are vacant. The lot is littered with dirty needles and broken liquor bottles. The food store is reported to be understocked and too small. The city has spent $200k, just to "study" ways to improve and revitalize it. There's nothing to study. Just look at it. Walk though it. Observe it. Ask what's going on there that isn't happening at the more successful strip malls out of town. Got it, yet? Just kick all the drunks, druggies, pushers, shoplifters, panhandlers, vandals and prostitutes out of the area. Problen solved. 1 Quote
André Toulon Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I refuse to believe in 2025 anyone is spending money to revitalize a failing stripmall. This reeks of one of your made up scenarios, formulated from nicotine and spite, just to prove a point that no one is arguing or cares about. 1 1 Quote
