Breaks for the rich. That’s what this is all about. It’s time to start considering burning shit down to the ground.  Trump is doubling down on his tariffs saying “it’s a beautiful thing to behold”

And the people basically support Trump still. Biden they wanted to hang for being a brain dead president.  everything is collapsing but we’re all just too stupid to understand Trump’s vision or something 🙄

these are comments on an article about the continuing tumbling of markets

I need a new phone and it’s gonna cost me $300 more because of these tariffs unless I make time I don’t have to get a phone already in stock 🫠

#firstworldproblems

we’re still the 1st world, right? 😬

Rural MAGAts really don't understand how fucked they are if this trade war with China doesn't swiftly end. Walmart would definitely choose to shut down stores serving sparsely populated areas first.

And I will be absolutely callous to their suffering. Fuck all of them.

and i was right there with you on this.

until i wasn't. until i realized that most of 47's base is ignorant, and greatly uneducated. more than likely get their 'news' from community 'leaders and pillars' at the local diner, parroting faux news that morning, and believing absolutely everything of facebook, the only other source of news in rural america.

I don't fucking care. Some people in third-world countries do everything right and never get the chance to get ahead just because of where they were born. Rural Americans still had plenty of leeway for error. Now, they won't. Their pathetic ways of living that are anti-progress in the face of globalization, which they still greatly benefited from, deserve to die.

Me, who prematurely cashed in my 401k during covid because it was all in oil and tanking

Sure, I may nearing 40 and have zero retirement plan

100% worth it

Now I get to watch a bunch of people who knowingly elected a convicted felon watch him make their retirement evaporate

It would honestly make an amazing science fiction/fantasy novel if it wasn't happening IRL

At this point, I'm starting to buy into the bizarre conspiracy theories that billionaires love recessions because they're able to buy up more control

For real, I'm 38 and this like...the 3rd possible recession we're about to be entering in my lifetime? To top it off, the GOP president and vice president wear more makeup than the entire cast of the rocky horror picture show.... but people keep electing their party into positions of power. They don't have to vote Dem, they could look at the independent options (I mean, let's be fair and just agree that libertarians are generally just morons. Please, continue to tell how you're some kind of sovereign being in this country that shouldn't have to pay taxes, while enjoying all the things other peoples taxes pay for.)

*Thank you for coming to my old man rant, GTFO my lawn

gary-sinise-is-that-all-you-got.gif

*I don't hate libertarians, it's just easy to make fun of you peeps

please don't mistake my disdain for the people that knowingly voted for him. but i'm saying is if you knew WHY. listened to some of these people.

i guess my quesion is this: so fuck those stupid country fucks, which is over half of the population. so now what? civil war? fighting in the streets?

what do we do now? just allow it all to crumble at the demise of those that didn't vote for 47?

are we throwing in the towel? i don't feel like throwing it in. i like a good fight.

Never give up the fight, of course. I'm just saying, these people that consistently go against their best interests are a waste of time and effort, especially in an age of global competition. They don't realize it's never gonna go back to the easy days when the rest of the world was still rebuilding their industries from the damage caused by WW2. I was thinking of calling these people lumpenproletariat, but there is a far more apt term that comes from the Indian caste system: dalit. In many ways, the US is becoming like India. Poetic, considering the treatment of the "Indians" (i.e. Native Americans).

Elon Musk told Trump that tariffs bad, maybe someone else can access story

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/04/07/musk-trump-tariffs/

Not just Musk.  Apparently most of the donor class told him to stop and their pleas fell on deaf ears.

Again, things we could have all avoided with Kamala.

We’re about to see how much power the billionaire’s club truly has.

An extreme scenario could see oil prices crash to below $40 a barrel (under $2 gas essentially) if the tariffs continue.  Which could be devastating for a lot of old money oil executives with ten gallon hats and leather shoes.

Trump’s ego and narcissistic personality vs the influence of old money billionaires.  The irresistible force against the immovable object.

Well, he just caved on everybody but China. Lowered the rest of the world tariff rates to 10% and jacked China up to 125%. So much for sticking to his guns. LOL

The China one gets lowered in a week at this rate.  Still, maybe this will save everyone from a $600 Switch 2, which totally would be a talking point during the elections.

Pressure was building in congress with more republicans openly signing on to the bill to wrest the tariff power away from him, which is what I think ultimately got him scared enough to make a move. I got a say, I'm getting really sick and tired of people saving him from himself. I mean it's good they stopped him from sending the whole country to economic hell, but how much insanity can you allow before you understand what you're enabling.

Of course, this isn't over yet, and 10% is still a much higher rate than we had before on the rest of the world. Also, it's supposedly just a 90 day pause, pffft. I can't imagine anyone buys that he's gonna do this all over again 90 days from now. I mean if he does, he'll just be the boy that cried tariff. When it comes to China though... Yeah, I can't see this as sustainable with them either. How long he'll stick with this trade war with them though appears less certain. They're not giving an inch, and if he backs down quickly to them it'll be just an obvious capitulation an total embarrassment for him. My guess is this drags on a bit longer on that front.

Japan's Holdings: Japan is the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt, with over $1 trillion

Other Major Holders: Other major foreign holders include the United Kingdom and Luxembourg.

Why China Buys U.S. Debt: China has accumulated U.S. Treasury securities over the years, and these bonds are a major form of U.S. debt to China.

Potential Risks: Some analysts and investors fear that China could dump these Treasury bonds, which could lead to higher interest rates and potentially hurt economic growth.

U.S. National Debt: The total U.S. federal debt was $33.1 trillion as of December 2023, with $26.5 trillion held by the public and $12.1 trillion as intragovernmental debt.

Foreign Holdings: Foreign investors hold about $8.5 trillion of the U.S. national debt, which is roughly one-quarter of the total debt.

China's Holdings: China is a major foreign holder of U.S. debt, with holdings of $759 billion in U.S. Treasury securities.

Different White House officials have been saying different things about the tariffs

Despite President Donald Trump’s 90-day pause limiting tariffs, imports from Mexico and Canada will still get taxed by as much as 25%, according to a White House backgrounder, the Associated Press reports.

The backgrounder contradicted an earlier statement by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said Mexico and Canada would also be tariffed at 10%.

Unlike the tariffs that Trump temporarily took down to 10% to give time for negotiations, the taxes on the United States’ two largest trading partners are a separate matter. Mexico and Canada are being tariffed ostensibly to stop fentanyl smuggling and illegal immigration.

He always does. My guess wasn’t based on anything other than knowing he’s a little bitch that can’t stand by anything longer than six days.

That and republicans were “supposedly” stepping in.

What China should do is freeze his accounts in their country, release the info of how much he was hiding in China, and give a list of all the things they've made for him IN CHINA and how much it cost vs how much he sold it to his cult members. Basically blow that whole 'America first and always' bullshit up with all the receipts of how all his crap was never made in America ever.

he accomplished that.

Can't leave out the part where it makes him look like a total genius to his cult for giving the economy such a yuge boost. Look at those numbers go up!!

(nevermind that it has also served to demonstrate "the economy" is only and entirely in service to billionaires)

Man, if only we had an agreement with other countries to circumvent China ... oh wait, we did have that agreement called the TPP and Trump torpedoed it.
