This is why we need to invest in carbon capture.  Suck the shit out of the atmosphere.  It's our best chance of bringing things back to normal.  Apparently the Inflation Reduction Act has numerous earmarks to invest in that tech.

I'd wager that, much like the burning of fossil fuels that kicked off this whole mess, any attempts to reinject carbon back into the ground where it will be inaccessible will also have long lasting and far reaching consequences beyond what we are capable of foreseeing.

You're not too far away.  I'm kind of in this not-so-sweet spot right between Long Beach and Fullerton along the county line at the mouth of the "valley" between the West Coyote Hills and La Habra Heights.  We tend to get hotter temperatures than our neighbors across the border immediately due east or due south.

Modern carbon capture doesn’t store it in the ground, it uses it for material purposes.  Problem is making more stuff solid carbon can be used a primary thing for.

You can use it for hydrogen storage cells for vehicles that run on hydrogen.

They produce O2 and water as a byproduct.

 

That's the kind of tech we need to invest in.

And concrete as well in lieu of water.  It’s actually fascinating the uses for the stuff, but we need to make it more profitable to get it by sucking it out of the atmosphere.

We only had like 5 days above 90 this summer. There's no risk of drought here either. Pleasant partly cloudy 75 degree weather today.

Might as well enjoy the affordability while it lasts. The Great Lakes and Northeast are gonna see a resurgence in population due to climate change and droughts in other regions.
