Is it a guarantee they did it? I'm not sold. Neither side really has a slam-dunk benefit to do it and obviously both face horrible consequences from blowing it up.

Its hard to think they didnt.  Russia had been raising the level of teh dam for a few weeks now and observers said it was in preparation for a potential intentional flood. The timing is also incredibly in favor of Russia. Just as reports of the UA counter attack started to surface, and reports of UA pushing back Russian troops, the dam breaks and floods what was potentially a key route for the UA to take in their advance.

Just seems way to suspicious to me. It has all the hallmarks of standard Russian war procedures. "If we cant take or hold it, destroy it"

An odd WH press briefing featuring John Kirby (spokesman of the National Security Council) just ended. It's odd in light of a NBC News report saying the U.S. is going to declassify info about the dam that indicates Russia is responsible. No declassified info was given by Kirby and he says U.S. hasn't determined who is responsible for the dam.

But an observation: there were two monitors behind Kirby but that weren't used. As if they planned to use them to display something but then couldn't or decided not to.

My opinion: the WH was going to present some evidence of Russian responsibility for the dam at today's WH press briefing but didn't. Perhaps because of the process of declassification taking time.

Occupiers admit hydroelectric power plant blown up by Russian sabotage group

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/06/9/7406062/

The Security Service of Ukraine has intercepted a conversation between the occupiers, in which they said that the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant was blown up by a Russian sabotage group.

"It's not them [Ukraine – ed.] who have struck. Our sabotage group is there. They wanted to scare them with this dam. It didn't go according to plan, it was more than they planned," says the Russian military.

This is coming from Ukraine, so it could just be standard propaganda you see during war, but it sure looks like Russia blew it up. And potentially by mistake. They, possibly, didnt intend to blow the damn up to the extent that it did.

Putin: "What do you mean the Army has problems?"

DETAILS OF VLADIMIR PUTIN'S MEETING WITH REPORTERS AND BLOGGERS COVERING SVO

For the decisions of the team, I was the coordinator, but I didn’t need to take care of it. We were far from home, who for whom you ask your food, and that's all. True, the President, on my chotiroh nutrition, said that I “having smelled Ukrainian lack of freedom and usurp the forecast.” I waited, but I asked food.

The President gave an interesting breakdown of economic wars to Zakhod against Russia. It's up, it's super-important, and it was written in detail. Who zatsіkavleniy - marvel at the channel "Look".

And so ... The team was great, requested 18 osib. Vidkrita part of Trival was close to three years. Closed - a little more than 30 quills. They didn’t call them anything, on the contrary, they asked us food, like we were asked in the trenches and in the teela.
The closed part of the conversation was dedicated to the problems of warring parts. The President, in the first part and in the other, richly noted in his notebook and commented a few times:
"Wow, I didn't know about that..."
"I've been hearing about this before..."
- “Today I will call the Ministry of Defense and discuss it with them” ...

Only once the President said zhorstko "net", if one of us zaproponuvav rіven penny payments for all regions. Putin vіdpovіv:
“We are Russia, not Ukraine, we are a power, not a regime, and I am not ironic and I am not joking. Є the law, tse goodwill pay the skin region to your mobilization, showing me no right.

Remember in March 2022, when the whole world went, "oh my god, Russia can't do it. They're not capable of taking Kyiv. We assumed they could, but they can't. Now we know how limited Russian military capabilities are; why would they demonstrate their weakness? Those idiots!"

Ummmm, something pretty big may be happening. The Russian army apparently has started to shell multiple Wagner positions. Wagner is responding by abandoning positions and Prigozhin is saying hes going to march on Moscow to take down the Russian MoD.

None of this is confirmed, and most "sources" for this are Wagner affiliated, so take it with a grain of salt. But it could be that the power struggle between Wagner and the MoD has boiled over.
