Fena: Pirate Princess set to debut on Crunchyroll and Toonami August 14,

THAT'S what you took away from that!?

https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2021/07/20/fena-pirate-princess-hits-crunchyroll-and-adult-swim-on-august-14

I got that Fena is definitively having an hour-long premiere on August 14th, but with Toonami expanding to 6.5 hours for the Harley Quinn marathon the week before, it's not uncertain that it won't hang on to some of that time a little longer. We COULD see a permanent expansion for Toonami to 11 or 11:30:

11 PM - Fena Pirate Princess hour-long premiere

12 AM - MHA

12:30 - Yasha-hime OR Mystery Show #1

1 AM - Same as 12:30

1:30 AM - Black Clover, Food Wars 4th Plate OR Mystery Show #2

2 AM - Same as 1:30

2:30-4: Naruto; AOT; DBS

The following week, Fena kicks off Toonami at 11:30 instead so there's no room for a 3rd "Mystery Show"

I guess worst-case scenario, Toonami stays 12-4 and Fena premieres at Midnight, prolonging MHA's hiatus but it returns at Midnight the following week and Fena moves to 12:30, ultimately replacing Dr. Stone on the regular lineup. YH stays at 1 AM and either Food Wars continues at 1:30 or we get a new show.

What do you think will happen?

It’s brand new.  That’s a good sign as it is.

just because something's brand new doesn't mean the average american will tune into it guaranteed....

plus it has to assert itself as A Heavy Hitter since the block is lacking much in the way of powerhouse titles

it's all about attracting the attention of the average american tv viewer....let's remember that and how the nielsen system operates

We're not talking about all the dedicated weekly toonami fans

we're talking about people who got selected for a survey(were promised $5 to take part)and randomly channel surfed for awhile before casually deciding to watch toonami here and there

it's easy for those to get bored if something's not off to a good start right out of the gate so what do they do?....change the channel and watch something else

We now have a release date. It IS STILL in the summer, but it's in the later part, so I was a bit worried there for a minute. Of course this raises more questions about how Toonami's schedule at that time.

Actors have slowly revealed they're in the dub, but I have never heard of most of them.

I had a feeling it'd premiere that day. Then again, I'm sure everyone did.

In a surprise move, I actually don't recognize half the names on the cast list, and even then, the only real "big name" is Doug Stone as one of Fena's guardians. (Fuckin' love that guy!) For those wondering where he is in the Crunchyroll announcement, that's because he was listed in the Anime News Network announcement instead.

And what's this about an hour-long premiere? I checked both the ANN and Crunchyroll articles and I don't see anything in either suggesting such a thing.

So it’s a one hour premiere at midnight.I wonder how the rest of the schedule will look.

I’m thinking MHA will actually take that week off due to FUNimation recently taking a week off but we’ll get another premiere at 1:30am or maybe 1am bumping YashaHime to 1:30. Probably MegaloBox or Assassination Classroom.

Though airing MHA at 1am or even 11:30 on August 14th isn’t out of the realm of possibility. As AL said, the schedule will be extra long the week before so maybe Toonami will get a proper expansion on August 14th. Or maybe just an earlier start time with shows shifting up.

The Toonami Facebook post mentions a 1 hour premiere.

EDIT: Actually the post got edited and no longer mentions that but the ANN article does  note the hour premiere. So maybe that plan has already changed, dunno.

This MIGHT be the first time anything Toonami-related is ever announced on AEW. I'd expect both Dynamite and the premiering Rampage to get Fena promos that week.

I’m sorry, they announced Fena during AEW?

It’s pretty ballsy to test drive a new original anime on Toonami, especially when Fena isn’t a robot or emotionless.

The show looks good, but hopefully it does well cause I know some folks will be pissy about it not being Chainsaw Man or JJK, and dislike it out of spite for not being shounen.

AEW has only been around since 2019, and for all that time Toonami hasn't had a marquee World Premiere (no, I don't count the first 10 episodes of Death Beats). That's why I say if Toonami is going to advertise anything on TNT, it's going to be Fena or Blade Runner.

Probably Blade Runner but maybe Fena.

2019?

I have come to the realization that this is not the same AEW I am thinking of.

I didn't realize a trailer had already been posted online.  Do we know who does the music?  The song that was used in that trailer in the OP is pretty good.  Reminds me of something from SAO.

Anyway, a different one just premiered during the Attack on Titan rerun!  A story trailer in English.  It looks good!  Now we just have to wait for that trailer to get posted!

Nevermind, this was already posted too!

Anyway, I hope it gets played again earlier in the night on the following weeks.

This has got to be one of the more baseless things you have pulled out of your ass in a while.

It should, much of the announcements list Yuki Kajiura as being behind the music for Fena.

Yup, I totally forgot we got that news, that's gonna be awesome having her do the music for this.

And here's her name with the shot of the crew when I was searching.

Ah ok, I did not know that!  Makes sense!  The music for this show is going to be awesome!

Yeah, I completely forgot that we had gotten that news until it came up in here which reminded me. I'm so hyped for her soundtrack!

And we're due for some incredible action animation too looking at the trailer clips and knowing Kazuto Nakazawa.

Preview video is up, and the usual hate that has followed CR originals is present, from the usual calls of "Absolutely no one cares" to the ever popular pig shitting photo that everyone loves to spam with.

...literally two or three people posted this sort of bullshit. Why are you even dignifying them with an acknowledgement?

Not really; AEW has cross-promoted other [as] shows in the past, since they're on TNT. Just nothing on Toonami so far.

Though TNT itself HAS aired a promo from a Toonami show or two in the past. FLCL Progressive got plugged on an NBA Finals game!
