I've Noticed How Desperate ATT/Warner-Media seems to be in getting people to subscribe to HBO Max

but why is that?

i haven't noticed Disney going to the lengths of screaming "Disney Plus Disney Plus!" all over every show they own and then making a Disney Plus Themed wrestling ring

No, I just get ads for it on every possible platform....Do you want to know how sick I am of the Star Wars Christmas special.....You don't want to know how sick I am of the Lego Star Wars Christmas special

I have to sit down and figure out which ones I actually even use anymore....because I think I want Max now....

Disney+ is trash, and really only was appealing when the Marvel movies were coming out.

Netflix is shit... their content isn't as fresh as it used to be, and I get why, but they just raised the monthly fee too.

Hulu is my go to...they have their adult swim. Channel, and a lot of my sleeping background shows.

Idk.... pornhub is free.

Disney doesn't need to, they've got ABCNews schilling for them, which they also own .

I only paid for HBO for game of thrones when I was pregnant, then I just binged the rest of the crap final season when they do the free weekends. Everything else I get from Netflix and Hulu.  I have prime video but I dont really watch anything on it. Ive seen all of Downton Abbey

I think Im also paying for funimation but like ........ I havent looked at it in months. It just like 7 bucks that gets charged on my credit card every month

i dunno it just seems like HBO Max didn't become as popular as Warner wanted it to be and now they are trying to make it sound like it's better than it actually is

I tried out the free trial. I like that most of the DC animated stuff seems to be on there.

They are 150b in debt from what I understand.

Roughly this.

Some asshole went on a shopping spree and the result was multiple businesses purchased serially with the thought that things would repay themselves instantly which is not how this works. Add more dumb choices to that and you now have someone desperately trying to keep their job by attempting to create an artificial rush of demand-subscriptions to HBO Max.

It is such an inconceivable amount of money. I mean I cannot get the bank to loan me 20k because I have poor credit but the company 100b in the red yeah sure let them have our stuff they are sure to pay us back.

and i just don't think that's gonna work.....hbo max really doesn't have the original content to say it's as great as Warner says it is

They have a lot of really strong properties, Game of Thrones, DC Comics. Unfortunately things like VICE are probably going to drag them down. But I am not an expert.

It's basically a start-up with thoughts of being a big dog right out of the gate by using a tag that died years ago, adding 'MAX' to it and seemingly attempting to kill off all possible competition by buying them up and gutting them for parts leaving people with supposedly no other option than their chihuahua start-up.

HBO...might have meant something in the 90's but the last time I got a free preview weekend, it was nothing but ancient movies that either had already been airing on basic cable or stuff that I already outright owned on DVDs. DVDs. That's how old some of those things were. It was ten levels of disappointment and I had 10 free HBO channels to be disappointed by.

Get woke go broke....

CNN is a tax write-down at this point, hence why it is on the sale block.

DC comics is the same, the movie properties never really took off the way Marvel did for Disney.

AT&T as a company was too heavily indebted to take on the various Warner properties at the time they did.

As far as streaming services go, I ignore all of em. For the most part they all show the same things as the free sites such as Tubi, and the original content is lackluster at best.

So "woke" means "buying a lot of different businesses which industries are all on the downswing of cultural relevancy and then trying to shove them into newer products and thinking that's gonna work"?

I tried scanning the bar code for a free HBO Max trial on my phone while watching Adult Swim last night, but my TV is from 2012, so nothing happened. I'm not really interested in this service anyway. I'm not sure what it has, but I already pay over $200/month for cable, and I'm cutting out all the movie channels this month because I rarely watch them and have seen the movies they play countless times.

I thought Toonami was on a Saturday.

Next weekend there's a Wonder Woman animated movie marathon instead of the usual Toonami schedule.

There will be more 'aim your fone at screen for free trial' ads during the movies since WW84 is slated to be simu-released on HBOMax.

Current thoughts on all this is that that Qubi thing was only a thing for the 5 minutes it was a free-trial thing. The second the free-trials started to roll down, Qubi died horribly.
