Waiting for the cable guy

Still Me

Recommended Posts

Back when I was moving into my place I went to order Spectrum, and the guy kept trying to sell me on their cable. I told him I just wanted internet, he tried asking me how many devices I have and if I game on anything (not that its any of his business) I mentioned a couple things and he was all "Man, I don't think the 200(mbps) will be enough, I think you need at least 400." I told him 200 was enough, especially compared to what I came from, him wanting to know about that to (although again its none of his business). He then told me I need to sign up for their triple play (Cable, Internet, & phone) I told him I don't want that, and I won't even use the other two things and he was all "Just listen, just listen! If you sign up for that you'll get the 400 included at no additional cost, and a month later you can just drop the other 2 but the 400 will stay included" so I said fuck it, sure...

When it came to the installation they fucked up, on their system it said the house was already wired but the wire on the utility poll was disconnected and the guy wasn't equipped with a ladder (dude was also nosy as hell, wanting to know how many people lived with me and when I said just myself he kept prying into my life), he had to leave and said he'd schedule a new installation date, which didn't happen I had to call them up, and in addition to that my account that was created when I signed up for the service was locked, them making a new account and in the end I'm paying the extra $30 for the 400mbps (which I love now that I have it, but the way they handled it all was bs).

So, you folded like paper when the salesman pressured you.

Something like that.

I do like the 400 speed, it's definitely pretty nice, I bought RDR2 yesterday and downloaded the 100 something GB of it in like 30-40 minutes. I do have the option of getting gigabit for only $30 more, which I might consider after I have 1 or 2 more loans paid off.

haven't payed for cable in over 10 years. i wonder what their profit margins are like, these days

They still make it by branching out mostly in the digital fields these days. I doubt any conpany can make it these days selling cable alone. I mean I used to be a cable tech.. Sometimes there's more money in disconnects alone depending on your flat rate abd other pay..

Either that or merging or other ditch effort business tactics.. Suddenlinks changed owners like 3 times since I've been familiar witht he company. Now it's owned by Altice.. I have a company called NTS that mainly only does internet now that just turned into Vexus.. I'm a pretty happy customer though. Suddenlink is price gouge central.. I worked for them, and used their internet alone with 100 dollar service bills..
