My dad had red-green color blindness, so when they decorated the house, he and my mom (and later, my stepmom) used every color but those two. But when he gave gifts after my mother died, he'd always give me and my sisters awful tchochkes in red. I don't know why - maybe they looked OK in whatever color it was he saw red in. But in red, they're pretty hideous - I can't even get the cats to break them.
